Jesus Henry fucking Christ dude. Steam does "Have to have Steam to play" all the fucking time. So what? You don't have to have it around all the time, just to play a game.

OT: PC for me. I played BC2 on my mates PS3 and it was slower than the PC. Just slower some how and I really do prefer playing on the PC. Also, BF is co-op based, you know how much easier it is to get shit done in a team? I bought MAG for my PS3, a co-op shooter...No one fucking listens. I've played a lot of shooters on console and the players play like its CoD and I'm sure that most of the players are teenagers or younger as a console is cheaper than a PC.

BC2 is just great on PC, and overall, PC players tend to be better. Not just the quicker or better aiming, just better. Better tactics and more willing to work together.

This is all my experience from playing CoD:MWF, MWF2 and BF:BC2 on PC and playing Halo 2, 3, Reach, BlOps, MoH and MAG on consoles.

All have their differences but PC just seems a bit more mature in my experience.

Me too, I'm getting it for PS3.
Hate Origin.
Uh...

...Have you used it?

It seems OK to me.

You're both being stupid if you're just not buying it on PC because of Origin.

Don't you have a microphone/speakers or some headphones with a mic?
I do.

But there won't be anyone worth talking to. Just like in BF2142, BF2 and the Bad Company games.

I think you've either got a seriously skewed memory of those games or you did a terrible job of picking servers. Did you ever try joining a group/clan?

It was my experience of 2142, as squad leader, with a whole squad with microphones working together properly, that has led me to fanboy over this game so much.

Judging by your other posts so far, it sounds like you don't really want it on PC, but your reasons aren't the best. I mean:

- Gamepad: You'll adjust quickly if you need to. Can you touch-type? Then you'll get it like lightening.

- Graphics: With a brand new rig, it will look better on PC than xBox. That's just a practical fact.

- Community: I honestly think that the PC community is better than the console one. At the very least, they're both as bad as eachother. I think you should try joining a clan or a gaming group where people have microphones and at least see how it goes. We've got one for the Escapist here, if you're interested. Xbox 360

+ 360 version looks fairly comparable to PC version so far in terms of graphics and gameplay

PC

- Play in complete silence in both single and multiplayer
I don't get how vaguely as good as PC counts as a pro for 360? Surely that is a neutral to a negative.

And after all the mic spam I without fail have to suffer across all platforms it is A GOOD THING to have the only sounds be the in game sounds like gunfire, grenades and vehicles. Far better silence than some psychopathic 15 year old mic spamming conspiracy theories about "DEM Muhsleeem!".

Anyway, this game is 'made for PC' it is definitely so that the 360 version is nothing but a console port.

If you want suggestions on a PC build/upgrade, I am happy to point you in the right direction.

Add the fact that BF3 isn't on Steam to your list of cons for PC. that's why i'm getting it for Xbox 360

You forget one huge PC advantage, the awesome modding community, which has produced some completely amazing mods. (see Project Reality)
BF3 won't have mods because DICE thinks that it's too "advanced",and any other way will be illegal.

OT:I'm pretty sure it'll run better on your PC, and "microsoft gave everyone microphones" you know that you can also mute them?
They said the same thing about all the previous BF games, they launched without mod tools but eventually they got modded. As the source you cited states (quite rightly):

"GTA IV has no official mod tools, but that hasn?t stopped fans from making impressive additions."

I would choose it for the PC, if it can handle it of course. I myself is getting it for the PC, and here i'm hoping that it can handle it

Why joypad?

Because, in my opinion, walking, running, climbing, stance changing, driving and piloting all are much easier, natural and control better with the layout of a controller and joysticks. Sure, you might be able to aim a bit better with a mouse, but a joypad with the sensitivity cranked and a set of FPSFreek sticks more than makes up for that.
Fixed for you. Unless you can prove it's better, it's all subjective.

Have we really gotten this far that we have to stamp every oppinion with "In my oppinion", of course it is his oppinion, he's saying it

... And lastly... FOR FUCKS SAKE PC PLAYERS, not everyone likes the mouse and keyboard setup, some prefer controllers, and lets just leave it there

(seewhatididthere?) I'd say go for the 360 version. I know the horrible crushing feeling that comes when you get a game that either, doesnt run on your pc, runs badly or you know it could run better on something else you own. If there is a "Might" in there it means you're uncertain.
Paragon Fury said:
Oh it'll run. I know that. But the question is will it run significantly better than my 360?
If you bought/upgraded a gaming PC in the last 4 years you will be able to run it at a higher fps than the 360.

Read your own article, seriously. Quote from link: "As of now, we are not going to make any modding tools" meaning at time of launch there won't be, but it is possible. Especially if PC gamers fight for it (looking at the lack of DX11 in Crysis2 and how that turned out). Despite that, in there they say NOTHING about it being illegal to mod the game, people mod games legally all the time on almost any PC game. In fact they said it would only end up looking like a challenge more than anything.

+ I play my 360 A LOT more than my PC
+ I prefer the joypad for shooters
+ I've played the last 2 BF games (Bad Company 1+2) on the 360
If you are more confortable playing on your xbox 360 than PCs, get it for Xbox. But if you do get it for PC, you will need to deal with EA's new origin service to play it which may deter some PC players from getting it.

I really wish people would drop it with the Origin thing. I personally played the Alpha of BF3 with Origin, and Origin is probably one of the least intrusive programs i've used. It ran in the background and launched with BF3, was barely visible, and had no noticeable affects on my system. It's not like they're forcing you to buy things off it.

Yes, that's what EA is hoping you will do, but that's what Valve did with Steam years ago, and now Steam is absolutely the most successful PC gaming based company. Look at the deals they have and tell me Steam ended up being bad, where I can have a library of 100+ games, that easily install and run with almost no problem, and I don't have to deal with storing 100 discs... all for only around 500$.

What's even crazier is that Origin ran better than steam, Origin did not ONCE freeze up on me while I was using it, unlike Steam which freezes every time I close a game (temporarily).

Sorry for length of post, but need to get it out.

Go find a FPS PC clan, you'll then have people to talk to, a decent server with active admins, and your won decent community.

Hell, I'm sure someone here on the escapist can give you an offer to join their clan! (I'd say join mine, but we're a UK/EU based clan)

-Use and communicate exploits to gain unfair advantage in a game
-Attempt to use EA Software on or through any service that is not controlled or authorized by Electronic Arts.
-Interfere with the ability of others to enjoy playing an EA Service or take actions that interfere with or materially increase the cost to provide an EA Service for the enjoyment of all its users.
Even if i quoted wrong it's still EA's choice to decide.(could sue people for modifying their games)

I had more quotes but i accidently deleted them when tried to to verify that i wrote it correctly and im too lazy to find them again.

OT:eek:thers have already told the cons and pros.

You've got a "brand new gaming PC" but you're unsure whether you want a game that seems to favor the PC version? That seems rather odd to me. It seems to me that you just want to play it with a controller.

Getting it on PC. Getting a new machine ready for it too. Been putting it off until a game like this is released.
