Lie, or you are 5 with the intelligence of 10 year old. Or you are one of the most intelligent people on Earth.

And I say that with my 142 IQ. Okay, now it's only 134, as it dropped a bit over the last 4 years or so, but... I don't know if I'm intelligent or just gifted.

I do know I have a great visual memory and I grasp every concept, language and skill extremely fast. I've been studying karate less than my friends at school, yet I was better when it came to using techniques. But since I'm lazy, I'm a jack of all trades. I'm pretty good at school... But even though I prefer some of the subjects compared to others, I do not exceed in any of them. Maybe except for English and Computer Study, but that's because I have more to do with those two than anyone else in my class.

I'd rather be good at only two or three things and weak at the others... Because while I have many skills, I have never perfected most of them.
No, it's the truth, although It would be very idiotic of me to try to prove it to every none believer. I'm actually 17 years old(18 this April), and while I will not claim that I'm the one of the smartest people in the world(because that's just being an asshole) I will say That if other people declared me as such, then I could believe them, just by remembering that most of my conversations with friends end up with me disappointed and them not understanding what the hell we were talking about.

Dumb question. How many gifted people got anywhere without hard work? Even Einstein said his genius was "99% hard work and 1% inspiration". Who am I to argue with Einstein?

"Gifted" people only exists in novels and movies.
"Stupid" people on the other hand....

if you are bright enough to have an IQ of 210 you either knew what the test would have beforehand, or should be bright enough to be the absolute top at all fields in school without trying

Who are you, and when did you steal those words from my mind?

Well, that would be correct.

Sadness often goes down as intelligence goes up.

It would also explain why idiots are usually smiling all the time and those smarter people are sad. Because WE THINK TOO DAMN MUCH. Thinking too much is bad.

You know how you can measure your intelligence?

Make an IQ test in your best foreign language. Then add 50 points.

Taking this into consideration, your intelligence option seems better, but I wouldn't really want it. It's not me, and the only reason it's better is because of a flaw in our society and education system. What I WANT is to be able to realise my potential, in a society where it's both encouraged and apreciated.
Precisely. The concept of "gifted people find it difficult to apply themselves and lack motivation" is the failure of an underfunded education system. If we taught gifted people to make use of their skills, and provided them with suitable work that actually challenges them, instead of letting them cruise through work that's below their level, then we'd have many more people with high intelligence.

Just a quick question - did you take the test recently?

Gifted impiles your good at one thing / intelligent is more of a good all rounder, more capable of reasonably seeing the world.

The later option of the two.

Agreed, Thinking to much causes way too many problems, such as depression and/or suicidal thoughts after trying to explain how nuclear fission works to your averagely intelligent friends.

Yes, last week actually. Since my intelligence is a major flaw of my personality, I've never been able to find someone special(a.k.a. girlfriend), so I have way to much time on my hands. Taking I.Q. tests are one way of killing this lonely, unused time.

Then you are doing it wrong.
Awwwww. Does this mean I don't get a 50-point bonus? Crud.
Nnnno, it means that even if I explain it to you, you won't understand.

Sorry.

I'm rather bright and the only reason I wasn't identified as gifted was because I sort of purposefuly failed in order to stay at the school where my friends were.
I was a stupid third or fourth or whatever grader.

Or rather, it was a bad choice.
Anyhow.

This, basically. So massively lazy.

EDIT:
theklng said:
it's a stupid poll. who says you can't get both? over time, those people gifted will sooner realize what they can do with their gifts. if you just 'become' intelligent it just means you read what others told you and you're no wiser than whoever is making whatever you read. you have to be gifted to understand and makes others understand, and you have to be gifted to seek knowledge beyond what others have written down.

as for 'talent': talent doesn't exist, there is only passion and skill.
I like to think of it in gaming terms.
Let's say...drawing.
You are talented at it, so you start with +5 to the skill.
If you don't hone it, people who started at 0 can become better, but because you're talented, you have a headstart of sorts.
So I'd argue that talent does exist.
my point is that if you have the passion, it will be a general enhancement to everything you do. people will be able to tell the difference between passion and passionless. you can always have skill, but if you heart isn't in it, you can definitely tell the difference.

Marvelously, I have both. I can reason this answer, therefore I think, therefore I am. Intelligence!
And I have many talents, writing, drawing, gaming, photoshop, the list goes on. Gifts!

Well she only said that based on the fact that the various scores for the various areas were so wide ranging that the overall score would be completely skewed and give no representation for any of my mental facultys
