Where the hell is Iron Maiden?
Seriously.
And Blur, Pulp, Sisters of Mercy, The The...
These bands on the list sort of sum up the British sound, which is exclusive to these isles, whereas you could say Iron Maiden go hand in hand with the 70's rockers of America.
Really...no.
Finally! Someone else who wants Blur on this poll.

I don't listen to Radiohead or The Clash, but otherwise all those options are great. However, I have to say that the best one is Queen. Why for the love of God is Queen not on there, it can be argued without any possible backlash or dispute that Freddie Mercury is the greatest singer in the last century, and Queen are so awesome that I find it a personal insult that they weren't included in the poll. [/rant]

EDIT:

British bands SUCK !!!
Fixed. Also, I refer you to the rest of this post. Plus, most of the great artists from the 60's and 70's were British. 80's too, come to think of it. And without them then we wouldn't have the music we have today. Most American artists have Britain to thank for their style of music, so your view here is pretty much irrelevant and invalid. Normally it wouldn't be, of course, since everyone has an opinion, but this basically goes against established and accepted fact. Sorry there.

Because you don't listen to Radiohead or The Clash, they don't deserve to be in the options?

Also: You're absolutely right about Queen & Freddie Mercury

It's Either U2 or Coldplay. They are the greatest British bands of our time. No matter what you all think.

No, I never said that they don't deserve to be in the poll. Of course they do. I was just commenting that I personally don't listen to them. However, other people do and they may well be the best bands I'll ever hear (apart from Queen, of course) if I actually did listen to them. They do still deserve to be there. I was also simply commenting that it's a travesty Queen aren't in it. Apologies then for any confusion I may have inadvertently caused.

You're just agreeing with Coldplay 'cos the guitarist is Welsh.

I personally love muse, always have! All their albums have been brilliant, unlike many of the others on the list, but whether they're the best british band ever is a question that i do not believe can really be answered... The "best" band ever will always be the band which the most people like; as a result of this the more mainstream bands such as U2 which have been around for yonks and built up a considerable mainstream fanbase would win this award.

EDIT:
I am not implying that U2 are a crappy band or anything, or any others on this list. They are all amazing bands!

I don't understand what you mean by this sentence. Could you please elaborate (it looks like you've missed a word out or something)?

I like them all, but I think I'll have to go for Oasis because everyone I know seems to like them, even chavs.

Arctic Monkeys rule, and apart from The Clash, the I give the rest of the bands on the list a resounding "meh". That is a result of personal taste, not a comment against the bands listed.

Out of that list I voted Muse, even though I like more (Oasis is a close second.)

Then again, if I went back and listened to any of the Muse or Oasis I have, I'd probably manage to complain about it.

Muse would be better if they had more instrumental stuff. I really love Radiohead, but I haven't listened to them in ages.
