Buy whatever your friends have. You can borrow games and play online with them.
This is a good answer, other than that it depends on the games you like.
Also, you really really should have picked a different thread title.
At the very least "Best console for me?"

(Look into Lost Odyssey for the 360, I bought a 360 for that game and haven't regretted it for a moment)

Wii gets old after a while
Xbox 360 breaks all the time
PS3 has Katamari forever making it the best thing in existance

A PS3 with backwards compatibility so you can use it to play more superior PS2 games.

N64! But I guess Wii for me since the games I want to play on PS3 and 360 usually come out for PC sooner or later.

Ok so far so good, you are right about the name of the thread though. Sorry about that, I changed the name and added a PC option. Thank you all for your advice. :)

So I am thinking of getting a new console and I was hoping you guys could offer some advice.
Keep the flames on low, please, I'm just doing a little research before spending a shitload of money on something with no resale value. Each system has games that I like, so I was thinking that perhaps some of you who have more console experience than myself could help me to make an informed decision.

Also, as a helpful person pointed out, I need to point out the stuff I like so as to try and avoid a flamewar.

Things on Wii: Animal crossing and mario
Things on Xbox 360: Fable 2
Things on PS3: Rachet and clank

Also I really like a PC. I am a WoW head and love diablo and starcraft and all those good ones.
I own a N64, a gamecube, a ps2, and a ds.
Thanks again
When you say 'I really like a PC' do you mean you want one or have one? If you mean you want one I'd say put the money from a console towards a PC and some games. If you already have one or really want a console I'd get the PS3 as it's built in Blu-ray and free internet makes it better value than the 360.

Wii is available for really cheap, so I'd probably say that. Plus, there are many more good games than people give credit for.

If you don't mind putting down extra cash, though, I'd go with the 360.

I like the Wii but you sure do have a strong point for PS3.

DONT BUY THE WII! I'm a 15 year old girl and I hate it. Was thinking of buying a Xbox, but loves my (old, crappy) PC. So I would say Xbox or PS3 knowing it wont help you sorry :p

Realistically....

Both PS3 and 360 are the same price and the new generation of 360's don't have serious problems anymore, so the playing field is almost level.

PS3 has some nice exclusives like Heavy Rain, Uncharted 2 and Demon's Souls, and the Blu-Ray player.
360 also has nice exclusives like Mass Effect 2, Crackdown 2 and Alan Wake, and most cross-platform titles tend to be better on it.

The Wii is cheaper, and will have the new SMB Wii, Mario Galaxy 2 and Epic Mickey to look forward to.

360 Live is about $5 a month, while PSN and Wii have free online, though you get what you pay for there, I find Live is the better service.

Base your decision on the games is all I can say.

Well, Mario Galaxy is the best of the games you claim to want (not to mention one of the decade's finest)...

I'd recommend Wii - it's cheap, and has a lot of good games you won't find elsewhere (most good games on 360/PS3 can also be played on PC): Super Mario Galaxy, MadWorld, No More Heroes, Metroid Prime Trilogy, New Super Mario Bros. Wii, Boom Blox, Zack & Wiki, etc.

Since you seem to already own a PC, so I would suggest upgrading it if necessary or getting a PS3. This combination will provide you access to the greatest range of quality titles (well, the greatest range with two platforms). The PC+Wii would also give a comparable range, but I don't like platformers so I'm no fan of most Nintendo games.
