I liked 5 the best. It's the one I have played through the most.

And I mean come on, the main enemy is an evil tree that controls the powers of the void.

But mostly the job system. I love me some o' that job system...

VI. The most coherent, competent plot in the series, and not every character is a one-note cliche. Some of em are 5 or more notes!

Also OP, I'll be amazed if you receive any explained votes for FFII. Have you played II (by which I absolutely do not mean IV, which is a great game)?

9. I love 9. I love everyting about 9. As much as I like 7 and 8 (yes I liked 8. Don't judge me!) Zidane was just so much more fun compared to Cloud or Sqaull. Loved the story and most of the characters, (Stiner was such a tool for the first disc and a half) but the best thing about 9 was ViVI. I love that dude.

The monolog at the end, that was not him saying goodbye to his friends on his deathbed. You want to know why his kids were at the party but not him? He sent them in his place because he was too busy being awesome and nailing supermodles. Thats why!

12 is where the series lost me (hated most of X-2 but I like the bonus happy ending so I forgive it). Unlikable, uninteresting characters in a Return of the Jedi rip off. No thanks.

I will not speak of XIII. I would be typing my problems with that for the next 2 days.

No.8 was worse. 12 is the most redundant.
As mush as I liked 8 the Junction system did make it piss easy from the begining. I hit level 93 before the end of Disc 1 once.

I got use to FF8's system its very awkward but it works once you figure it out, FF12 is just bland and boring, I love the combat and level design but god nearly everything else sucked. And lack of dual wielding for Vaan whose basically a thief really burned me.

Final Fantasy Tactics I feel is the best, the game where they actually focused on a story and gameplay over trying to have the most over the top visuals and other nonsense. Also it has the most re playability by a long shot.

I share the exact same sentiment, not often I find people that love #5

I'm going to go with XI. Mainly because I've wasted wayyy too much time on it, but also because I doubt anyone else is going to mention it.

Oh boy! A thread meant to inspire the white-hot flames and passions of FInal Fantasy lovers and haters alike!!

I can't say which one is the best and, trying to would be a stupidly hopeless endevour. The best I can do is tell you all my favorite and my least favorite starting with my least favorite:

FINAL FANTASY XIII which so wanted to be a film. It looks absolutely beautiful and it a great game to watch people play but playing it yourself is a long, tedious, boring chore and the characters in it range from boring to downright loathsome.

My favorite Final Fantasy is a toss-up between Final Fantasy IV and Final Fantasy IX. I love the plot for both and the characters are also really good. I love the medieval settings for both but in the case of IV it was pretty standard. I loved the arc the main character had, going from a Dark Knight to a Paladin and, I love the romances in IX. The ending of IX, to this day and even in the context of Theatrythem's event stages, still makes me tear up for some reason.

Honorable mentions go to Theatrythem, Final Fantasy USA-Mystic Quest and, Crisis Core, all of which are awesome games. Minor gripe though with Theatrythem: there isn't Vamo Alla Fleminco or, Zorn and Thorn's theme

IX > X > VII > XII > VI > VIII > XIII > X-2 > XIII-2

I enjoyed all of them, but if I had to put it in order, it would probably be that.

IX was the first one I properly played, and I fell in love with it. It was lighthearted, but also had quite a grim, mature undertone at places.

X I loved due to the graphic enhancement, voice acting, story, and Rikku.

VII is just classic.

XII I loved the airships, and how political it was, especially with the Judges. I found the way they spoke under their helms very cool.

VI had Kefka.

VIII enjoyable story, but a little weak at times, I thought.

XIII beautiful game, interesting story, but too linear. Didn't feel like a Final Fantasy game.

X-2 enjoyable, but also too..."immature" at times. A little watered down, I thought.

XIII-2 similar to X-2. Story was awful a bit wank, and it didn't have an ending...

I'm currently playing through III at the moment on my phone. It's a lot of fun, although not great in terms of story, as it just seems to be a lot of random little events leading up to one big, but yes, it is fun, and quite nostalgic.

First time I completed IX I burst into tears. I think it was a mixture of things - it was the first "big" game that I had completed, and I'd loved it so much, that I was both happy and sad that it was over. Not to mention the ending is a bit emotional as it is.

None of them. Final Fantasy as a property is an abomination of intellectual properties almost on the levels of Terribad carried by call of duty.

I liked Tactics, IV, VI, IX and XII the most I think. XIII wasn't too bad for me either, if you can look past how linear and different it is, I think its still a stellar game.

the fact that you come into a thread asking which one you like just to say "ALL OF THEM SUCK" speaks volumes of your opinion's worth.

Once more I see a "Best Final Fantasy Game" - thread, and once more I say IX.

IX gave the player a gigantic, immersive world to get lost in. Newer games give you a corridor. Besides, the more science-fictiony the series becomes, the more sterile and bland the games tend to feel. I like the traditional medieval setting. I also like the upbeat, carefree and optimistic attitude of main man Zidane - especially after trying to slog through VIII while dragging moody douchebag Squall along.

Oh - and the MUSIC!

'Nuff said.

Uff, I don't know. Final Fantasy X I guess. Really love the combat system in that game, and it was my first PS2 game, so the graphics combined with everybody actually talking made it extremely awesome to me when I was a kid.
FFVII, VIII and IX were the games I spent tons of time with growing up though. Out of those my ranking would be IX > VIII > VII.

you already know what I'm going to ask, at least you should

if you don't like Final Fantasy (though I suspect you've never done more than glance at one judging by your extremely general sweeping statement) then why are you posting in a Final Fantasy-based poll? it mskes no sense...

on topic, although I do love VII, yeah I said it, I love VII, but VII is my favorite, for reasons beyond the game itself, you could probably guess which is my favorite by my avatar

FFVI and FFIX.

I've already said why countless times. But when you look at all these games in detail, you see that the quality of these two titles are exceptional, to the point that makes them timeless!
