The Witcher 2 without the smallest doubt. Im surprised it has so little votes, its a serious contender for game of the generation and not just year.
I'm always amazed when I come across a person who loved the Witcher 1 or 2. Sure the graphics were nice but it's like every comforting and frequently used part of RPG games is removed the the Witcher series.

Walk to quest NPC 10 minutes away, walk to quest start 10 minutes away, do cave crawl/quest, walk back out of cave 5 minutes away, walk back to initial npc 10 minutes away. I mean even the bastard child that was Gothic 4 had dungeons that are circular so that you don't have to walk all of the way out of the cave that you just cleared. Imagine if the first dungeon in Oblivion post gate didn't have the door that took you back to the start, that is how practically every part of the Witcher 2 is. And is it so hard to invent fast travel or an NPC that you don't have to escort for an hour and a half because she gets stuck on every rock?

Anyways I guess my game of the year so far is Bastion. I'm pretty happy with it considering it only cost 15 bucks.
Confirmed for not having played Witcher 2 past the first proper boss?

Ive completed the game 2 times. Both times, not once, not ONCE, did an NPC get stuck on a rock. I have also never heard the complaint before, from anyone. Maybe its your PC that cant handle all the shit going on? Im taking a wild guess and not blaming it on the next best thing here.

Its also very curious that you are talking about caves, because I can remember one motherfucking quest in the entire game that took place in a cave. And it was a side quest. And it had 2 exits.

I also dont remember any environments in any of the chapters that were big enough to spend 10 minutes walking in a straight line. It simply didnt happen.

You are talking out of your ass, its that simple. Im going to take another wild guess and say you got stuck when you first met the kingslayer, maybe even before that, got butthurt and swore to bash the game whenever you could from that point on, regardless of whether you had valid complaints or not. There are big problems with both Witcher games, but pathfinding is a problem in neither and repetitive caves is a problem in only the first.
I mentioned I was surprised that you liked it and you went crazy. I quit not long after the part with the big owl who moves slowly escorting you through the spirits. The caves I were referencing were A the one near the waterfall in the Kracken woods/area, and the one that you enter with a bunch of dwarfs. Triss had a few pathfinding issues, which were infuriating. Not due to lag but due to her wanting to fight a monster and ending up getting stuck behind a tree as she slowly slides back to her path only to repeat the same action. I know some people had troubles with the game running properly, but I never had that issue even if others did.

Portal 2 was easily the most fun I've had all year. I'll give Little Big Planet 2 the runner up slot. While not quite as compelling it keeps dragging me back to find more and more amazing user created stuff.

I'm gonna make a little stand here and say Bulletstorm was my favorite game so far.
That might change with Assassin's Creed Revelations, but for now I had the most fun with Bulletstorm.

Xenoblade Chronicles easily the best game for me so far this year (and almost this generation) should do for the JRPG what SFIV did for 2d fighters it wont of course because its on the wii so most people wont play it, shame.

Not going to say too much about the game except it is awesome and if you have even the slightest interest in RPGS you should buy it.....unless you are in America which would be unfortunate in this instance (for once), yeah sorry just remembered (goddamn NOA crippling an excellent games market penetration).

If a game tops it this year for quality then it will be a very good year for games indeed.

for me? The world ends with you. A significantly older game, that I dismissed at the time because yahtzee trashed it (making points that I now actually consider to be outright false) that turned out to be actually fucking awesome. So thanks for that.

Of those that I've played The Witcher 2 probably, though it's surprisingly close. This has been a pretty good year for gaming in my mind, I've been enjoying myself.

That said of all of those Witcher 2 is the only one I'm genuinely anticipating a replay of when the next major patch comes out. It's rare when I enjoy a game enough that I'm eagerly seeking out an excuse to spend more time with it! For that reason I'd say Witcher 2 is my favourite of the year.

Infamous 2
I can't believe it's not on your list! It's the only release this year I got giddy about, and I still enjoy today as much as the first time I played it.
