Team Fortress 2 is amazing and will never get old. Left 4 Dead 2 is fantastic and a whole lot of fun. But for "realistic" console multiplayer, Bad Company 2 is the king.

Team Fortress 2, but I played ARMA II at my cousin's, and, well, saying I was impressed would be a severe understatement.

Singleplayer, I give the award to Half-Life 2 (in spite of the fact that Call of Duty 4 had a good singleplayer campaign).

Multiplayer is a bit tougher to choose, primarily beacuse it entirely depends on what you look for in an FPS game. My choice would be Call of Duty 4, but there are people (like e-Sports enthusiasts) who would perfer other FPS titles.

I rather liked Unreal Tournament 3. Sure the single player was just a series of glorified multiplayer matches, and the story was all but nonexistent, but the multiplayer was where it was at. Perhaps I'm just a sucker for the live fast, die hard arcadey gameplay rather than all the strategy and regenerating health bars of most modern FPSes, but it's a solidly fun multiplayer experience that doesn't pull any punches.

Big guns, epic vehicles, and fast, visceral combat, it's good times.

Single player - Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare

Multiplayer - Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2

Both on the PC. Even though MW2 doesn't have certain features that PC games should, I still think it currently trumps every other shooter on the market.

And no, I don't just like things that are popular. I like things that are good.

For singleplayer, Metro 2033. For multiplayer, Shattered Horizon.
I'm gonna have to second this, and add the stalker games.
I don't know, Russia must just have a special place in my heart.

Single Player: Call of Duty 4

Multi-Player: Team Fortress 2 or Halo 3. (I always come back to those two)

ArmA II, at the moment.

I love that game. It with the ACE2 mod is the closest thing to real combat you'll ever experience.
Speak for yourself ;P.

TF2 for me. I don't like all those games where whoever sees the other person first clicks them, they die, the end. Well, I kind of do - they're ok.

I liked Killzone, purely because it was the first FPS I ever got.

I may get a more realistic fps one day.

Or I may simply use the firstperson commands and play Alien Swarm on Hard mode ;).

(Alien Swarm needs to get tougher, fast - get goin', fellow modders!)

TF2 is probably going to win by a landslide and it deserves it; but, Unreal Tournament 3 was worthy of carrying on the UT mantle imo.

I would say Bad Company 2. Nothing else has succeeded in making so darn fun on a large scale map.

it may turn out to be Halo Reach but as of now for me it probable has to be BFBC2 and Metro 2033 gets an honorable mention, as well as the Darkness
