Even though I've never owned a Nintendo console or really liked any of the games I'm going to say SNES.

N64. Super Mario 64, Star Fox 64, LoZ OoT...
Only other that comes close is NES for all the other classics. I'd say Gamecube comes third with Pikmin(1 and 2), Animal Crossing, and Melee.

honestly, I think the poll should really only consider the consoles and not the handhelds since, with the handhelds the GBA and DS can play a huge library of backlog, the only Nintendo console that has the ability to access a backlog is the Wii.

So, for just consoles, I think the SNES was the peak of Nintendo consoles, and probably one of the better eras of gaming. The library for the SNES has one of the largest collections of -good- titles and has some of th most classics that still stand the test of time to this day. Not to mention, it's housed some of the best RPGs to date, before most of them became all about looking pretty and cut scenes.

Honestly, I'm surprised so many people voted for the N64 since honestly, I thought that was the weakest of the Nintendo consoles. I can only think of maybe about 5 games that were decent for it.

Nintendo has a legacy of amazing consoles... but my inner-child screams SNES. N64 lost by a hair and I was two years too young to think NES was the best.

I'm fully aware that my point of view isn't "the truth" in this, or any other case (cep't for bacon, bacon is awesome no matter what anyone else says)
I just look at it's function, i don't care what the gamecube was back in teh day (i have one myself and i really liked it btw) cause we live in the present, and no matter how good soemthing was back in teh day doesn't make it better today.
Yeah you have to turn it on with wii-motes (i think at least, haven't tried not to) but to me thats a really small price to pay in order to play the good game son it.

The only functional benefits i can think of that the GC have compared to teh wii is
Price, it's prolly cheaper to get a GC than a wii, if all you plan to do is play GC games anyway.
Looks, this is purely a matet rof taste, but they look different, so some people will liek one over the other.
Shape, sortof liek looks, but also helps if it absolutely has to fit in somewhere, and again, this is minor, and can go in favor for eitehr depending on where you want to put it.
I can agree with that, just look at the present at what we have a move on. However the Wii is a symbol to me of Nintendo falling, so I'm a fan of the old Nintendo now. :p

Would you still pick the Wii if it couldn't play any of the older console generation games on it?

Honestly, I'm surprised anyone would say that unless because honestly, it had so many great games on it. Unless your honestly just not into any of those games, honeslty?

Games like Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask, Golden Eye 64, Perfect Dark, Super Mario 64, Super Mario Kart 64, Smash Brothers, Banjo-Tooie, Conker's Bad Fur Day, Diddy Kong Racing, Donkey Kong 64, Ogre Battle 64, Jet Force Gemini, Mischief Makers, Star Fox 64, F-Zero X, Body Harvest, Sin & Punishment, Yoshi's Story, Mario Party 2, Starwars: Shadows of the Empire, and that's all I can think of right now.

I love my GameCube. I have grown up with Nintendo, so its really hard for me to pick and choose the console that I like, but to me the GameCube is far the best. I like the graphics and games that are for the it. SNES is a close second since I played that all through my childhood and I had 20 games for the thing, but my heart is with my GameCube.

I grew up with the Sness so it's my favorite Nintendo system overall as well as my favorite console ever. Though I do still like the Gamecube and N64 for a lot and still play all 3 fairly regularly.

This is like asking the best teeth from London or the best driver in Bejing. There is no most good, only the least bad.

The N64 had Perfect Dark, Goldeneye and Banjo-Kazooie. There is NO competition.

Probably yes, i've played most of the games i wanted to play on GC anyways, and theres not coming any more games on it as far as i know, but theres a new zelda coming for the wii, and a new metroid (which sadly doens't look like a must-buy so far) and it'll have at least some years to get more good games.
I know the wii doesn't have teh greatest catalogue compared to say PS3 or 360, but it has a decent one compared to the gen before it, not as big but it has some good games, and more will come, i'm sure of it.
But it can play older games, even though it hardly matetrs to me seeing that i already have a GC as well.

I'm torn between N64 and the DS.

N64 was great but sadly i only had rubbishy games way back then. The DS has a lot more variety from what i've seen so i'll go with that.
