Unfortunately (or fortunately), there are far more people who are swept up in Halo in America than there are those interested in Final Fantasy 13.
You don't know the scope of what you just opened. Do you not know of japen? Do you know how many people there like JRPGS? You know how a lot of people don't buy a console until something good comes out? Just think about it.
You said that about MGS4 too. The sales boost was hardly impressive.
What? Did you know that after the release of MGS4 ps3 sales jumped 2 million copys beating the 360 for half this year?
You've misquoted there. There were two million copies of the game sold not two million consoles. The spike was decent and put it at the top of the list for a week but it was nothing super special.

Ok you got me there on a wii version, however, my point still stands that it would be nice to see all this power used to bring us some new game styles (although I admit DR could partly be seen as 'Dynasty Warriors set in a zombie mall'), instead of us buying a brand new machine and finding that the main changes are that the car bonnets are a bit shinier, and the cleavage in the fighting games having smoother curves.

I will likely choose the PS3, simply because it has the best exclusives for me (backwards compatibility, we've had a PS2 for like, just under 9 years now, and we have quite the collection, included is the original Silent Hill which took me forever to track down). In some and, dare I say most cases, it IS that cut and dry. It's just the console that best suits my gaming habits, regardless of how it ranks in comparison to the xbox 360.

Dead Rising however, I feel couldn't have been done on Ps2 or Xbox, and it's a shame I can't find more games that are not just shinier versions of old PS2 games.
I should point out that you are actually wrong there, as the game itself is now being ported to the Wii, which has comparable power to the Ps2.
Yeah, and you can see where the problem is with any of the screenshots. The massive hordes of hundreds of zombies that would be milling around on the 360 version are down to about maybe ten on the Wii version.

It's just not Dead Rising any more, it doesn't have the one thing that really made it great, the population.

And he is right, the Ps3 outsold the 360 for the last 6 months.
2.2 million consoles sold for the period vs. 2.1 million. Not really making a dent in the lead the 360 has in the HD market. (And a gain which will almost certainly have been instantly wiped out by Gears of War 2, which shifted two million copies on it's first day, and I bet some of those will have had systems tagging along)

Or, more likely, not. A series is likely to shift consoles only once (as it entices all those who are intruiged by the series to the console) unless it undergoes a massive change - Gears 2 is appealing to the people who already have a 360, and so isn't going to increase sales of the 360, while the Ps3 is showing off LittleBigplanet - something that hasn't been tried before. And the actual numbers were closer to 2.5 million against 2.2 million.
Sony has the right idea. They made bundles for the ps3 for MGS4 and they sold like hot cakes. If the internet is to be believed it was selling out in stores.

And indigo is right. No one buys a console for gears and then buys another for a sequel..

GOd of War III would be the ONLY reason that I would dish out that much cash for a ps3. Otherwise, I don't see the point in dishing out a ridiculous amount of cash for a system that will spontaneously combust.

You don't have to worry about it turning up dead just for playing it.
Looking at you 360! (I am on my 5th!)

My friend got a 360 elite and it died its first weekend. The one before it was stolen the very weekend he got it.

...I think you may have got some mixed messages.....
The only thing that I have found wrong with the ps3 is that the launch versions blu-ray drive can fail at times if you play a lot. And thats only sometimes.

I'm pretty sure more 360s have spontaneously combusted than PS3s.

Just last week I turned on my 360 and I saw smoke start coming out of it. The room smelled rather bad after words, and my 360 no longer works. My PS3 has been with me since launch, and it hasn't had any problems.

My main reason for getting a PS3 was for Disgaea 3 and to have a blueray player. But now I am glad to have it for games like littlebigplanet and Valkyria Chronicles. I plan on picking both up here real soon.

I never thought I'd see someone who actually thought Disgaea 3 was a deciding factor. Its a great game and all, but its so very.....ancient.
Oh, it might be old, but both myself and my wife had tons of fun with it. Loved the older Disgaea games as well. Plus it was a bonus it sold for 49$ new instead of 59$ that most games sell for these days.

I just got it for MGS4. At first I was kind of bored after I spent countless hours on MGS, but Resistance 2 has changed all of that
