Yes the Infinite Improbability drive is based on a actual theory. But its conception its impossible to do cause its highly improbable to get the location you want to travel to.

HHGTTG beats Dune in every possible way in the realm of technology.

The Forever War

This is Joe Haldeman's absolute finest hour. Sure, it's only recently qualified for "series" at all... but that doesn't mean a great deal. They're still excellent books.

The First Book [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Forever_War]
The Second Book [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Forever_Peace]
The Third Book [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Forever_Free_(novel)]

Awesome series.

Oh well as long as you can reason logically thats fine then. Its still humour.
So because its humour it takes any credit from it? That doesn't make sense. Thats such a stupid thing to say that I canno't express in words how stupid that makes you look.

No offense there...

Stephen King's Dark Tower Series.

It is full of epic win from start to finish.

And I'd call more sci-fi than fantasy.
That series was awesome right up until book 5, where it got really really shit, convoluted and only served to stroke Kings massive ego. i am this disappointed because i paid actual money for all the books. and loved the first 4. The ending blows too.

I am suggesting Dan Simmons Hyperion/Fall Of Hyperion/Endymion/Rise Of Endymion series as grade a epic space opera with a hatred of authority especially religious. As a close second to the genius that is Hitchikers.

True that it went downhill in book 5 and a little bit of 6 but the ending made up for it tenfold sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo good

Jesus christ, WTF should it have any credit its a book I dont like, Im not saying you shouldnt like it, I said I dont like it. I, ME, THE INDIVIDUAL. Go jackboot elsewhere fanboi. Try thinking before typing it helps.

Pretentious arseholes really get my goat.
Your the pretentious guy here. Just cause the series is a comedy doesn't take it any credit that its a great Sci-Fi work. INDEPENDENT IF YOU LIKE IT OR NOT!

FACT: The HitchHikers Guide to the Galaxy is one of the best Science Fiction works ever created. If you like it or not its something you have to live up with.

Its not. "Its still humour, there for it fails compared to Dune, Ender's Game, War of the Worlds, The Time Machine, The Foundation, 1984, Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?, Starship Trooper, A Stranger in a Strange Land, Fahrenheit 451, Neuromancer, Hyperion, SlaughterHouse 5, Jurassic Park, The Man in the High Castle, A Clockwork Orange, 2001: A Space Odyssey or Childhood's End.".

Uninformed people really get my goat.

I loved all of them EXCEPT for he fourth one. That one is terrible. Very monotonous in my opinion. The last one is the best, because of the ending.
