Starcraft 2...

The Terran Marine Armour may be weak as fuck, but hell they sure look bad-ass...not convinced?

Blizzard sure knows how to make a intro!

I like the simplistic design of the Nanosuit from Crysis.

<spoiler=Pic>http://bestgamewallpapers.com/files/crysis/us-nanosuit.jpg

At least it's simplistic compared to most other "suits" in gaming.

The Nano Suit from Crysis, because of how plausible to design is and I love how it looks. It really looks like something you could see being developed in the near future, and the overall design really shows off that the suit is tough.

But... how do you get into it?

OT: The Mass Effect suit. It looks incredibly sleek, and comes in hot pink.

Gotta be 40K, it's a tad excessive, but that's the whole point!

Though, there's a little inkling at the back of my mind that there's something that's way cooler than almost everything in this thread... but... I just plain can't remeber what it is! D=

GREY KNIGHTS. WHEN AWESOME JUST ISN'T ENOUGH.

That said, Warhammer 40K. Especially grey knights. They're like awesome times awesome raised infinity. Then multiplied with itself. And then times Chuck Norris. Raised with infinity again. Plus awesome super weapons. Times 10. And then a bit more.

Ok, that was a bit over-kill, but they're really awesome! xD

Though I prefer the leaner look of the first game's set to the more bulkier look of the second.
You're kidding, right? "Heavy armor" in the first game dwarfs any and everything from the second.

-Space Marine is OK, but then so is Terran Marine, since we know the story there.
-MC is utter crap, extremely scaled down, but yet bulky, while the ones in ODST atleast feel military.
-Marcus Fenix is meh, but considering how big his neck is, I would say the armor is part of him and not something he wears.
-ME has better armor, sleek and all, but honestly, Bioware cannot design Helmets for the sake of all.
-Isaac doesn't have a Marine suit? I thought he was an engineer and that suit there is a Techy Engineer suit.
-Helghast and Storm troopers are fine with me, they fit their niche perfecttly (Hel = Terminator Nazi's and Storm = Classic Evil Drone).
-Samus Aran is...I thought she was a bounty hunter? Anyway, her get up is OK, but overall too colorful for any 'marine' purpose.
-Crysis armor is the best Marine suit so far, hell, they're supposed to Navy Seals++ those guys, expect the thong part on their butt-cheekc and the shoes, those alone ruins the whole look.

Based on the poll, it's a toss up between Metroid and Dead Space. The dead space armor looks more "bad-ass" whereas the Metroid armor is more "technically bad-ass", what with all of its abilities.

However, the BEST space-marine power armor to have ever been dreamed up belongs to...

Battletech/Mechwarrior. There are literally hundreds of designs and each is not just some supped-up armor, it's practically a full blown mech.

Star Wars, cus it's the fucking original.
No it's not. Do you know Starship Troopers?
Hahaha newfags these days. Starship Troopers came out 1997, Star Wars came out in 1977.
hahaha, idiots these days. Starship Troopers (the original story, not that shit-tastic movie) was printed in 1959. Pretty sure that's LONG before Star Wars was even being dreamed up by Big 'Ole Lucas. ;)

Many stories took a lot of inspiration (and straight copies) of things from that original novel. Star Wars, Halo, MechWarrior, to name a few. Halo is the most blatant though. Hell, the whole setup of the war between the Humans and the Covenant is almost identical to the way the humans and the bugs are in the novel. In the novel the bugs are an intelligent collection of species, most bipedal, that have advanced technology. Much like the covenant. Likewise, much of how the military is described through Rico's eyes, along with it's tech' and mannerisms, is directly copied in Halo.

So...yeah, Starship Troopers has the true, "original" power-armor and, one could argue, has the best of them all.

The "aliens" marines are badass personified...which makes it all the more terrifying when a load of aliens wipe 'em out.

But sticking with games, it's gotta be the ODSTs. Because power armour and genetic alteration are for wimps, as are landing crafts designed to be able to lift off again after landing, not these guys, nope, just a big metal shell with tiny little boosters and a positive attitude.

Though, when space marine comes out on 360, expect my post on the next thread like this to say "Spare marines. Because cover systems are for wimps."

The Starcraft CMC Powered Combat Suit looks like the most doable combat suit at the moment since by the looks of it you'd just need a whole lot of hydraulics and a way to keep it from crushing the pilot. To be frank, by the looks of it, such a combat suit might be designed in a few hundred years or so.

Incidentally:

It also looks the coolest.

It has to be the 40k armour. There's no point in wearing body armour if it can't withstand bullets on its own or only with the aid of an energy shield.

Of course the 40k armour does have the disadvantage of the wearer needing to be 8 to 10 feet tall with the skeleton and muscle mass of two and a half to three normal men stitched together even with the cervo-mechanical network built into it. Not to mention the implanation of the Black Carapace...

I laughed.

Then i had sad face. :-(
I saw this about 5 missions into the campaign of SC2. Don't really know what happened in the cutscenes past that point, I was too busy looking at the fucking cat faces.
