Adolf Hitler had to be one of the best leaders.

He would have to be a great leader to make the nation do what they done...I in no way look up to him but you have to admit he had all the traits of an excellent leader.
War leader? Hardly. He single-handedly cost Germany the Second World War numerous times. A charismatic leader, but a poor strategist afflicted by severe delusions.
yeah nearing the end he was a fucking moron, but you think a poor strategist could have pulled off such a feat? And hitler wasnt simply a frount man. The German strategies of World War II were almost designed by Hilter himself.
Strategies like invading Russia?

I want to say Patton or Caesar because i love those two so much but that would just be flat out wrong
I would probably have to go with Genghis Khan because
1.He united the splintered mongol tribes
2.He defeated nation after nation with his army
3.he successfully implemented an amazing logistics system that enabled riders to travel upto 300 miles a day on horseback
4.He organized a group of nomads into a regimented fast moving and disciplined army
5.He was awesome
6.He created an empire that would eventually be the largest contiguous empire in the world
7.And he was abandoned by his tribe after his father died so he helped his mother and three siblings live when they had absolutely nothing.
Pretty fucking awesome

Friedrich der Große
his dad spend his entire life creating one of the most powerful armies in Europe and this guy just takes those troops and adds big chuncks to Prussia and actually manages to keep them(compared to other people mentioned who basically just build very impressive houses of cards)

Gen. Robert E. Lee
Genghis Khan
Alexander the Great
General Jack Pershing

These are my favorites.

But the ultimate leader...

General Pershing the man who had no qualms about using religious superstition against his enemies.

Hitler's most successful strategy was made by Manstein to capture France
Other than that he mostly ignored sound advice and dangerously outspread himself while creating a current of resistance in his provinces due to harsh rule

(flame shield) as horrible as the crimes he committed was, adolf hitler. As a leader he was incredible but as a human he was despicable.

Hitler was okay, but he was very lazy once he got to power. Basically he did what every good leader does, which is 'leave it to the experts'. He simply stated what the overall goal is, and got the people best at achieving that goal to plan it. Also, Blitzkrieg was (sort of) his idea. (it was kind of stolen from the British offensive in WW1, the Somme.)
Apart from Hitler I'm not very good at all this history stuff. I'll go with some of the Roman dudes. those guys were awesome. Particularly that one Carthaginian guy. Hmm, Hannibal? Yeah, he was great. Go round, recruit an army, take Rome, get betrayed by Carthage. All in a days work for that guy.

Alright... Patton wasn't a true "War Leader" seeing as he was just a general. However, if he was correct, he automatically wins. A) He handed Erwin Rommel and the entire Third Reich their asses in handbaskets (they were so afraid of him, that, true to the movie, thought that he was leading an attack at Port De Calais to invade, and not an attack at Normandy). Thus, no one can argue Hitler or Rommel. And as I was getting at B) He believed in reincarnation, and thought himself the next life of millions of soldiers and generals, including such greats as Napoleon, Alexander the Great, Genghis Khan, Caesar, Hannibal, etc, etc. Patton=Win.

First that comes to mind would be Admiral Ackbar, I mean after all he saw that the rebel alliance was about to enter a trap.
No one could spot a trap like that brilliant man

Magneto.

Age of Apocalypse Magneto, mind you, where he led the final charge into Apocalypse's citadel and proceeded to pound the ever-living STUPID out of him in self-made battle armor.

He was a Father, a Husband, and a true Leader in AoA. Xavier would have been proud of him for what he did with the X-Men after his (historically inaccurate) death.

Patton was awesome but he fought the leftovers from Russia, most of the Germans on the western front were deemed unsuitable to be fighting in the East. but you know i guess i can agree with you cuz im hindu and i believe in reincarnation and i have done at least 5 voluntary projects about how awesome Patton is.

Also in terms of generals there was one awesome Roman general who i think was better than Rommel
his name was Belisarius or Narses depending on what you read
If you thought the Germans were scared of Patton, After Narses retook Italy from Barbarians they would not attack Italy as long as he was on the peninsula at all. Thats a serious fear factor

Being British I may be biased, but It's gotta be Churchill. The epitome of a great leader in herd times in general, as well as times of war.

Putting my Britishness aside however, I've always been fond of Ghengis Kahn.
