Poll: Bethesda Syndrome

Nope. Never restarted the game, stuck with the same character for both games, finished oblivion months ago, finish fallout and all DLCs a few days ago. I think im safe or immune. Then again does it mean the people who never bothered with the games are naturally immune?

Either immune or not in close contact with infected persons.

You can use a cheat to bring up the chargen menu to change your character's appearance. I rarely make new characters as I end up changing appearance and attributes to fit my mood. I avoid making uber powerful characters of course but yes it is cheating.

PC players can get around this by simply using the console to change stats, but no, I never suffered from such a syndrome.

You know there's an option to load a previously saved game, right? Couldn't you have loaded a game from 10-20 minutes previously or something?

Also, you get to create your character, then change anything you want when you reach the end of the first dungeon/vault. If you've restarted several times already with this option open to you, chances are you'll never have a character you're 100% happy with.

It was too late. I tried to load up a preiveus save, but the game had already overwriten it with an auto save, and before I knew it, he was gone. (I think it was Charon or some BOS guy)

I see what you mean with the Dungeon/vault thing. But thats not really the problem.
For example: during my adventures in tamriel I was hunting a target who lived in a flooded cave. The cave was full of slaughterfish and water-traps like falling rocks. I nearly died reaching my target due to me almost drowning. As it turns out, my target was an argoninan, who could breathe underwater the whole time. After a long battle, I amerged victorius. I thought to myself, "hey, I want to be an argonian! Think about it, I could breathe underwater, AND I would have a TAIL!!!" I immidiatly thought "NO! Im not changing again!"
It slowly chewed awy at me, slowly but surly. It was like drugs, I told myself "Just one last time, then ill be happy. I wasnt. so I changed again. and Again. And Again. And again. It just keeps going.

It's not that, it's the whole "DERP DERP(fanboy)" "HERP DERP HERP DERP(Have it)" Why not just say "I have it" "I hate Bethesda games", etc.?

Bethesda Syndrome has a very easy ingame cure... It's called go look up console cheats. Seriously, there's one (in Oblivion anyway) that takes you back to the character creation screen whenever you enter that cheat. Even if you're far into the game.

All you need to do is open console and type "showracemenu" and then press "Enter"

You can then remake your character completely from here. (from race to face)

The OP is actually talking about restartitis and it's not present only in Bethesda Games.
