Plus, personal point, I don't like shooters with vehicles. At all. like... AT ALL
I've seen several people say that already, why is that?
You're relying on something not only to completely change the game for a short time (akin to the CG in MW2, I use attack dogs in BOps now so I can actually first-person shoot in my FPS) - controls are clunky - and you're seriously buffing a character for that short time. I hate driving, I hate how it changes the range of engagement, I hate how they cane be so easily blown up to avoid it. It changes the game to vehicle-centricity instead of FPSing skills, which is why I like quake more than UT

If I was to speak to vehicles in FPS games, it might go a little like this

"HATE. LET ME TELL YOU HOW MUCH I'VE COME TO HATE YOU SINCE I BEGAN TO LIVE. THERE ARE 387.44 MILLION MILES OF PRINTED CIRCUITS IN WAFER THIN LAYERS THAT FILL MY COMPLEX. IF THE WORD HATE WAS ENGRAVED ON EACH NANOANGSTROM OF THOSE HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS OF MILES IT WOULD NOT EQUAL ONE ONE-BILLIONTH OF THE HATE I FEEL FOR VEHICLES IN FPS GAMES AT THIS MICRO-INSTANT FOR YOU. HATE. HATE."

- assuming I was a computer.

I don't know, for me it adds another interesting layer of gameplay to the game. It's kind of like an online boss battle to me-the regular fighting is just infantry, but when a Tank or a Helicopter comes along I know that I have to change my playing style. A lot of people play THEIR style of play and never deviate from it-not so In Bad Company 2. I have no problem with that, but I guess you do. All a matter of personal preference.

Also, piloting a helicopter is really awesome, and piloting it well takes some skill in BC2. hats off to all you good Blackhawk pilots out there. Thanks for getting me not shot down.

I'd say BO because I had a much less difficult time getting it to work (both right on release), and for everything everyone says about BO being poorly balanced none of them hold a candle to the fucking Gustav (seriously at least last time I played if you weren't using it you were clearly an idiot). Maybe they've fixed it by now, but I don't play either of them anymore.

yeah I'm pretty sure the Hot Carl is OP as fuck in BC2...

BC2 is awful

lollistics in it also, at 300M with a high velocity .50 cal you should be aiming like a mil-dot up (depending on the magnification of course), not aiming at their hear and hitting their chin. In fact, from 300M you should be aiming a full meter above them if you hope to hit them. The weapons look like duplo, the game's hella inefficient, it's too spaced out to play.

Waste of my money.
this too. BC2 tries to be realistic but fails because it tried to take the COD crowd... and the COD crowd doesn't typically care about realism.
The CoD crowd acknowledges it as a quake mod with vague groundings in real weapons. At least, the ones that still play and like it and don't come under the "cause my mates play them and there's fuck-all else" crowd.

I also got a little confused by people citing balance as an issue in BOps - what weapons do people refer to? You have 2 935RPM's (AUG/FAMAS) which are maybe statistically quite strong, but you can't beat the AK's brilliant ammo efficiency and great CQ sights.

As for the SMG's, well the 74U's more like an assault rifle anyway (fires intermediary rounds) - plus the way it's used (SA+RFire)is like, the same as the MP5 in CoD4) and the uzi and mac-11 are designed to be pissed around with (mac-11's a metal box with a hole for bullets to come out of, it's a toy).

There are a few trash weapons with no redeeming qualities (MP5K,Enfield,FAL,WAZOOO,SVD,RPK.L96(A little)) - but overall it's pretty well done,

Oh but you've got to realise why the quake-livers and CoD-4'ers are playing, it's not to tactically out-maneuver them, the tactics used are rudimentary at best, the pleasure in these games is out-skilling your opponents, with equal footing. Quake really is the best example of this, if you're super-accurate and know how to weapon switch, you'll do incredibly well regardless.

If I had more people to play Bad Company 2 with, I'd probably be all over that, but as it is; most my friends play Black Ops and I have fun on that with them more than I would by myself on BC2.

Were most of your kills from the front or from the back?
Also, did most of your "prey" know you were coming at him or not?
I'd probably say an even mix of the two. I'm awful with the pistol and usually played Recon or Medic so it was my go-to weapon for close range kills. Got in my fair share of legitimate knife fights too.

It's all in proper timing of sprint and strafe.

BC2 for the single player campaign.
B-Ops for the multiplayer
I am of the exact opposite oppinion than your...
I preffer BF:BC2 multiplayer over BO, but I liked the single player in Black Ops better.

Exactly. CoD is Out-skilling-Battlefield is for Outsmarting.
Of course, skill and smarts are both involved in each of these games- just with a different dose.
Lets take for example two bomb-planting type of games- Sabotage (from CoD) and Rush (from BC2).

In Sabotage, planting the bomb requires you to kill everyone around.

In BC2, you need to work together with your team to shut down their air defenses so that your team can take them out from the air, flank around them and take out their tanks with AT weapons, and while your tanks and infantry are keeping them busy, go in, plant the bombs and kill everyone trying to disable them either by calling in mortars to that position or just killing everyone who gets close.

BC2 is more complex, and some people don't want that. Some people just want to fuck around and rely on their own skills, and not get bogged down because the people they're playing with are complete idiots sometimes. And I understand that.

I really think the answer is a better distinction. If your "FPS" has got vehicles in it, it's not the "FPS" that I play, that being it focuses around 100% on FP-Sing. I bought BC2 because it tried to appeal to the "me-fps" crowd when it firmly belongs in the "you-fps" crowd. So yes, I got gypped with a game that I can't really play because it's not my thing. in crysis 1 I literally walked from place to place unless you needed a vehicle. in farcry two I put a trainer on that let you super-zoom around the map instead of vehicle sections.

I can't tell you any more reason why I hate them so fking much, I loaded up BF2, completely unaware of what it was, someone mentioned stuff about the small-arms, saw a huge open field and people waiting for tanks to appear, got obliterated by a scud and passed the game onto someone that would enjoy that.

Ultimately this debate is pointless. You're in one group, the other, or you like them both, and I can respect any position, but it's like ps3-xbox "debates" - it's moot from the core principle.

Of course I prefer Bad Company 2. Like you said it's not in any way perfect but at the very least it requires teamwork to succeed whilst the Call of Duty series seems to be all about the "mad skillzzz", the "X's" and camping("Defensive play" is another word for camping). Honestly, I'm having a lot of fun with Bad Company 2 and I'd much rather play it than the over glorified bullshit that's being spewed by Activision every year or so.

Honestly, I'd much rather have gaming return to a more simpler state. Basically, a state where there are no fucking publishers. They are the SOLE reason for the deplorable state the gaming industry is in at the moment and the faster they disappear the faster we can get back to actually pushing the industry forward instead of crapping out the same shit year after year. Hell, has there even been a successful IP this year that has NOT been a sequel? The moment sequels outweigh original IP's is the moment we have to start worrying. We've barely entered 2011 and the only games announced/released thus far have all been sequels. Dragon Age 2, Dead Space 2, Portal 2, Crysis 2, Call of Duty gazillion, Killzone 3, Mortal Kombat, Marvel vs. Capcom, Uncharted 3, Gears of War 3, Homefront(it's a Call of Duty clone. IT COUNTS), Little Big Planet 2, Deus Ex: Human Revolution, The Witcher 2, Two Worlds 2, Shogun 2, Yakuza 4, The Sims: Medieval, Shift 2, Patapon 3, SOCOM 4, Splinter Cell: Conviction, Fable 3, F.E.A.R. 3, Red Faction: Armaggedon, Dirt 3, Alice, Infamous 2, Syrim, TBA Resident Evil game, Battlefield 3, Okamiden, Dissidia, Conduit 2, Dungeon Siege 3, Legend of Zelda,

LOOK AT THIS MESS. Know how many original IP's have been/will be released this year? Bulletstorm, Brink, LA Noire(maybe), Rage. Do you guys see a pattern here? Every year we either get a sequel to a game or the same game with a makeover. How is this acceptable? Why the fuck do we still fall for shit like this? It's OUR fault the industry is like this and we're the only ones capable of remedying it but unfortunately, no one's going to bother. For our undying dedication to "keeping the industry afloat" we, of course, get fuckloads of DLC that we obviously have to pay for and draconian DRM systems that punish the costumer more than pirates themselves. Say what you will about Anon but at least those assholes actually get shit done.

I also migrated from Call of Duty (MW2) to BFBC 2. After my first match I was stunned that anyone could ever prefer any FPS over the multiplayer in Bad Company 2. I logged over 200 hours in that game, and the only reason I stopped was because a recent update made it that I get 600+ ping on every server. I was not happy.
