ok, here's the deal.
If you'd like an awesome platformer/ third person shooter, go for inFamous. It's awesome (ten million times better than Prototype).
If you want an FPS/RPG game that requires old-school grinding and weapon combinations that rival Diablo II, go with Boderlands.
as for Borderlands vs Prototype? Go for Borderlands... Prototype is just shit.

Ooh, fuck thats a difficult one.

Well, I'd go for Borderlands myself, but only if you can play online, if you can't play online, get Prototype.
NEVER recommend Prototype... ever...

I haven't played infamous but why would you say it's so much better than prototype? It seems to be the exact same game but it's slower to climb a building and the attacks look the same on infamous.

Even though Prototype has a lot going for it on paper, it never really managed to wow me. As a matter of fact I didn't even complete it.
Borderlands on the other hand seems a bit repetitive but is actually a lot of fun to play and keep playing. I'll probably even buy the DLC (as soon as I get a bit bored with MW2 and L4D2).
So I'd recommend Borderlands, assuming you have friends to play it with that is. If you plan on playing only single-player then Borderlands isn't so much fun anymore.

Woah, why all the hate for Prototype? it wasnt THAT bad. Not that good either, but i'd say give it a go if you can find it pretty cheap.

As for Borderlands, if you cant play it online, or with friends, then you best avoid it

I personally think they're both great, but it depends on the kind of experience you want. Prototype is great if you want something that's strictly single-player, and Borderlands is incredibly fun if you have someone to play splitscreen co-op or online with you. Now, Borderlands is still very fun by yourself, but the experience becomes even more enjoyable if you have a buddy killing and looting alongside you.

Both are pretty good, Borderlands let's you team up with buddies and kick awkwardly levelled ass while Prototype is good for being an overpowered arsehole (both of which are suprisingly entertaining).

Which do you prefer? Shooting leigons of bad guys or ripping apart leigons of bad guys?

Seriously, I've played both. Both are repetitive, but Borderlands is able to balance it with fun gameplay. Prototype gets very old quick. If you want to play a fun yet early version of Prototype just go for Crackdown. Same repetition but with the fun RPG elements that make Borderlands the better buy.
