So I was wondering, what is the big problem with this?
Staying in a fixed location and waiting for enemies to show up so you have the advantage of seeing them before they see you and also be in a better stance while shooting. If I sit behind a crate and wait for you to walk by or I hide in the grass and wait for enemies to show up, why is that so wrong? It's just another battlefield tactic after all, and I'm not exploiting bugs or anything, am I?
I get a lot of crap for just sitting still for 15sec-2min, getting called a camper noob when the waiting finally pays of and I get a kill. I have never had a problem with people doing this, and I really need to know why some hate my guts for it!:s When I run really agressively around I do poorly on most games. I need to do slow and controlled advances, checking every and all corners and making sure nobody is flanking me. So I often stop, get down and wait for a little while to see if I am being followed. Many times this pays off, but I end up being called a camper. One thing is in for example counter-strike and the last guy on the enemy team is camping in a hidden location and you just can't find him... But most other games have players constantly respawn, so what is the biggy?
Thanks!^^
EDIT: So it would seem most don't really have a problem with it, but lets clarify. No one likes spawncamping, that there is no doubt about. I am likely to quit a game if I get spawnkilled multiple times in for example an uncapable base in a BF game, but in a capable one, what is there to expect? The enemy are assaulting you, it's hard to do anything about that cause it's part of the game! But anyway, spawncamping = mostly uncool...
People camping in the same spot all round... So they are a drawback to the team cause they don't join in the fight, but if we are talking about the kind that just sit there and get loads of kills let my tell you this; grenades (and many said this) are made for campers. USE THEM! Also, if you get killed by the same guy in the same spot all the time, stop being a retard and go another way... That is your fault, not the camper!
The camping I was talking about is the "using tactical locations, defend objectives, using the good old rule of crossfire" and such. It's really not a bad thing to do, it's normal battlefield tactics in real life and I don't get why every player have got to be a super-agressive one online? I like knowing whats going on so I often hide in a cluster of trees and check whats going on and where my friends and enemies are before I shoot or move on, I'm slow but I do my best to help the team.
Hiding seems to be frowned upon too, and using stealth is that a bad thing? I mean, sneaking around the flank, hide until the enemy pops into sight and kill him? Because you can't see your enemy said enemy is a noob? Why don't we just go back to good old 1800's and stand on a line taking shots at eachother! First headshot wins!
