The UK has somewhere in the neighbourhood of 160 functioning tactical nuclear weapons.

You would need to launch 161 separate invasions, assuming it isn't the 'States or Russia doing the invading. If it is one of them and the situation goes nuclear there won't *be* a UK to invade, just a deep ocean trench and Southern Ireland.

I'm pretty sure we'd take the ROI down with us just out of spite alone :D

Assuming the whole world calls a bunch of air strikes, then proceeds to follow up immediately with a land-based clean up operation, I think it could be done. The main thing England has going for it is that its an island, making land invasion considerably more difficult.

Also, fix your poll. "Is England invulnerable? Yes, but it will be hard." If England is invulnerable, it won't be hard, it would be impossible. Plus the fact that the questions the exact opposite of the thread name is probably confusing.

with todays modern military lasers to take out missiles. and anti air equipment, we would successfully hold off the rest of the world but then afterwards how would we feed cloth not to mention rearm ourselves without other countries support. we would eventually run out of bullets!

About the Battle of Britain:

The British, outnumbered as they were, still held pretty much every significant strategic advantage. They had a larger and more powerful navy. The German fighters lacked the range to cover the whole of the island (especially since they didn't have any aircraft carriers). The British had air defenses and a populace ready to fight for their country. The Germans didn't even have proper landing craft (and even if they did, the Royal Navy would have blown them out of the water).

That being said, none of those advantages would have meant shit if it weren't for those pilots. Britain could very well have sued for peace had she lost the air battle. However, with all those factors (including excellent pilots) in its favor, the Germans would have required the intervention of alien space bats to actually conquer Britain.

As for right now...I think the U.S. could do it (especially if the stealth fighters were sent in first). However, I don't think they could hold it for very long. I don't think any one nation could hold off an insurgency of 50 million pissed-off civilians. To conquer is easy - to rule is hard.

Who would want to invaide this country anyway? What would you want it for? Most foreigners complain when its below 30oC its considered not to bad here if its above 15 would they want our vast resources of rain and freezing atlantic winds?
Shepard's pie my friend.
Ahh ofcourse fiendish bastards! *flings on kilt* You can take our lives but youll never take our food.
Of course invading England for its shepards pie would only be a stop gap on the way to get Scotland's deep fried Mars bars.

The only uninvadeable countries are Russia and Canada. Napoleon and Hitler got the shit kicked out of them trying to invade Russia
They made the mistake of invading in summer. If you want to take over russia, you do it in spring... as early as possible. Because once winter rolls around, you've lost.

There is no way that you could take over all 17,075,400 sq km of Russia in less than a year.

You don't have to. You just have to destroy the central government.

Then you have the problem of a resistance movement (An in a country that size, it will be impossible to destroy), probably leading to uprisings and a full scale revolution (They've dont it before). Also, given the mafia's current position in the country, you would likely be fighting them as well.

I argue that it is already being invaded by Radical Islam, but then again, every country has been. They hold massed protests and destructive riots everywhere.

The United States could, and it would be easy. Probably could do with the national guard even.
Also, it would be easy to hold as well. sorry to say it, English lost their toughest when the United States came to be. The rest died in WWII or work for the proud, skilled, and tiny Royal military.

Of course we could, I say we as in every country in the entire would. With Russia's size and China's/ America's training we could take them in like a week. But why would you ever want England it's full of bad oxygen and wet.

Also what all they have is muskets and old ships they would need to update there arms before they would even be a mutual threat.

Of course it's not invincible it would just be a very bad idea as all of Europe would have to take up arms to defend it.

Of course it can be invaded, but it would be an incredibly difficult invasion due to the fact that it is an island, requiring very specialized ways of troop injection which would mean no matter what the first invasion force is doomed to be outgunned and outflanked.

Anything, ANYTHING, can be invaded. Someone, some where, will think of a way to invade England if they needed to know how to.

Many people did do that. Hitler did it. (If airstrikes count.)
