I'm fourteen, therefore a lot of the people I know are childish and this is how conversation can go, "xbox ____" "xbox is shit" "Why" and then they have no reason at all other than that it's not what they own.

Um...yes, maybe? Because I was never aware it had a "bad reputation" to start with. 
Not that it really matters to me what kind of reputation it has. I love my PS3 and its games and that's all I care about. But I didn't think people as a whole think badly of PS3.

I dunno about bad reputation. The controller is a bag of shite but the hardware itself is fantastic.
I think it's definitely shedding it's bad reputation, perhaps not quite there, but, very soon. Unfortunately the introduction of motion controls will do NOTHING to help. That can only lead it to the same casual gamer land that the Wii has been living in. But, maybe since the systems and hardware can actually accommodate real games, it'll be able to pull through this awful phase of gaming.
I'm more concerned about Nintendo actually, as far as regaining lost reputation. Heck the DS is more of a hardcore gamer's platform than the Wii.

A friend told me it was $5 a month. It doesn't matter, the point is why pay for online when it's free elsewhere. Especially if it's filled with the aforementioned 12 year-olds.Beastialman said:
what bad reputation, the only cons about it was that it's price and games, but the price was sorted around the time the PS3 slim came out and the games issue(for me) was settled around the time the time metal gear solid 4 and GTA 4 came out

Like with the PSP, I've seen zero reason to hate on the PS3, plus I've not really heard any bad rap about it recently. Those fanboys and critics who do think it's doomed to failure are either incredibly cynical or just childish, both having poor closed minds which inhibits any intelligent reasoning.
It still has the variety in games that the PS2 had, encompassing a wide genre of titles from Jrpgs to any sports title you care to name. Personally I wouldn't mind putting down a few bucks on those who care to lash out at the black monolith, wagering they've not even tried it aside from playable consoles in public stores like GAME etc. and that's a long shot in itself

well by the sounds of things we can all agree the ps3 doesnt have a bad rep, only thing people didnt like originally was the price.

Apart from the inital lackluster start, it has a fairly good reputation. Sure, the 360 was the better option to begin with, and then it all went sour with the hardware failures. If I was getting a console now, I'd go for PS3 defently.
I think it's pretty much shed the animosity it had at release. If I went and bought one then it's definitely come a long way in getting rid of its bad rep. Now days I feel like its a much better purchase than all 4 of the 360's I've went through (RROD FTW!) in the past 5 years.
