Of course.

I've been viciously attacked by an anti-straight... yes, those exist. She spewed some dumbness and slapped me (because I'm straight and obviously deserve to be slapped), then knocked off back to her "OMG GAIZ" group she was hanging out with, who were planning their next gay rights rally, who applauded her work. My crime? ...Couldn't tell ya. I was sitting in a corner with a book.

I don't care who you want to sleep with. But it certainly made me pissed beyond all fury at "gay culture" for a bit there.

Hey, if a lot of people can hate excessive American patriotism without hating America itself, or over-zealous religiousness or anti-theism without hating religion or atheism in general, I think it could work the same way for homosexuality.

I'm Bi and the people who go around shouting it at anyone who looks at them even drive me insane. Nothing wrong with being proud about it, but that doesn't mean to announce it at every opportunity.

I hate anyone who makes sex or sexual preferences a major part of there personality, gay or straight.
Why? Just out of curiosity.
It's annoying if someone lets one thing decide who they are, it's like listening to a guy who never shuts up about something, like fanboys but instead of talking about My Little Pony till I start hating it myself, but it's even worse here because instead of a topic I liked at first they start off with a topic that I didn't want to hear about in the first place.

I really dislike anyone who makes an individual, and private, part of their lives so much a part of their personality that they never shut up. I have had and do have friends who quite simply happen to be gay, they live their lives and go about their day to day business without ever having to mention it, any more than I have to mention that I'm straight in general conversation.

They don't need to put on a frilly outfit and parade around the streets. They don't need to proclaim "we're here, we're queer, get used to it!" as if we're not.

In the immortal words of Lisa Simpson..

"We are used to it, you do this every year"

I think so...

what about being a "camp" guy...could you fault somone for that? I mean Id imagine thats just how they are, or who they are comfortable being

but yeah..I dont see why being gay has to be somones Identity, I dont base my indentity on being a hetero (woooo! hetero pride!!!)

BUT that said youll find it with any group...some people take pride in being gamers/nerd/geeks and build their whole identity on it.....not me though............mabye a bit

I don't like gay culture. It is consumerist bullshit.
I have no problem with gays. Many of my closest friends are gay.

I think so. I personally dislike the gay culture, but not the people themselves. It's too flamboyant for my tastes, and just gets a bit annoying. But, just like any other group, there are some fantastic people in that culture.

I hate straight guys who act like huge players and treat women like shit, does that make me a bigot against my own gender and sexuality? No. I just hate annoying people. Same principle applies with people who act overly "gay", in my opinion.

Quite ironic, given i have made a similar Post, well rather a series of em due to quoting back and forth on that same Issue in a totally different Thread.

So to keep this short, no you're not homophobic because you dislike them basicly rubbing your face into their gay and yes that sounds utterly bonkers but im out of Coffee and about to pass out :D

But of course.

But here's the question for you - since there's a wide spectrum of what we can call "gayness" : which "gay culture" is considered "mainstream", "canon" and which is offshoot ?

I'm not a huge fan of any people who are excessively loud about anything. Sexuality is certainly one of the more annoying things though, as it's not something that I'd see as worth broadcasting.

You can SAY whatever you want, but you cannot DISCRIMINATE people for this.

The same "open-minded" people who embrace american gay culture, will inevitably bash Japan for being so oh-so-strange-and-pervert. Be wary of self-righteousness.

Hmm, let's apply this to a different standard. Can you hate African culture and not be racist? Yes, I don't like gangster-wannabees and rappers but I could care less about their skin.
....you realize that acting like a "gansta" or an "O.G." is not at all African culture, right? That may have its origins in Black American culture, but that doesn't make it "African" anymore than White Americans acting like trailer trash makes their culture "European". Just thought I'd point that out.

Yes. Just like how I have the same problem with Furries, Bronies, Vegetarians, overly religious people, and just about any group likely to get a little too worked up about something. Don't shove any of it in my face, and we'll get along fine.

I don't care which sexuality, skin colour etc someone has - anyone can be annoying if they make a fuss about something, which they think the whole world has to know.

Yes, because stereotypical culture (i.e. flamboyant as fuck for males and aggressive as fuck for females) is annoying. Plain and simple.

Luckily, stereotypes don't even form the majority of homosexuals, so it's barely relevant.

Hell, the flamboyant shit is annoying in straight girls, too.
I'm with you there. Being gay myself I choose to stay far, far away from what most would consider 'gay culture'. Mind you, I'm not an antisocial, disappointed-by-life person without friends, I simply do not identify with the way many of the gay people here push their way of life in everyone's face.

One of the main reasons for this is the aggresive way they demand acceptance by everyone and on the other hand not tolerating anything else. Don't think you can only apply this one to the gay scene, though.
