Yes. I even have a license for lifeguard... somewhere... hidden...

OKAY FINE I LOST IT SOMEWHERE!! ARE YOU HAPPY?! Started learning when I was 5 or 6, got license by the time I was 10. Despite being slightly overweight and with asthma.

I used to go to swimming lessons. Got up to the level at which you start jumping in in your pajamas and giving manikins mouth to mouth.

I can SCUBA dive a bit as well. I learned on the barrier reef and that is easily the best thing I've ever done. Like visiting another planet. Contolling your boyancy by how much air you keep in your lungs. You can fly. At 30m you can drink cola out of a can. the pressure keeps it there. I know that sounds pretty unbelievable but I've done it. The coke is flat though cos the pressure squashes the air bubbles. It regains it's fizzyness as you return to the surface and everyone farts. You can see the bubbles coming up from peoples backsides.

which is nice.

I learned when i was 4 or 5 when I was abroad. Dad used the whole 'you'll either sink or swim' tactic and threw me in salt water. Learned pretty quickly.
I still swim a lot nowadays but not as much as I used to.

yes, I have a pool so I must. I'm planning a bit of a pool party for tomorrow. If you want to come, come here
Dam it! If I could have spared the expense of plain ticket from Europe, I would have come.
But, how deep is the pool, because it doesn't seem too deep.

In Denmark you learn how to swim in school :)
That's just one of the many reasons kids here want to do live in Denmark.

Aaaa, as not so skilled swimmer(just curious, I know I won't be saving anyone), what is the technique of saving someone(I'm referring to everything before the CPR procedures)?

I can swim well enough that i won't die... But I won't be crossing the channel any time soon :p

Everyone should be able to swim anyway, and if you can't, go out and learn.
That's what my mom always said. We'll more like:"there will come a time when good looks won't save you. Just look at me, I'm a not that attractive anymore and the lifeguards won't even notice me. So that's why you should learn how to swim(to save me of course)". It's her(our) running joke.

I'm the 5 year old who was out-swimming you. Metaphorically anyway. But yes, I grew up near a huge lake and I've been swimming absolutely as long as I can remember. I even took some lifeguard training, although I never wanted a job where I'd need it.

Rats love water :)

I can swim very well I learned at a young age because my parents had an above ground pool. I had to save my friend from almost drowning at my cousins pool, when my brother pushed her off of a raft in the deep end lol.

Both me and my sister were forced to have lessons from a young age because our mother can't swim and she wanted us to be able to. I was on a swimming team but was too laid-back to really take competition seriously, so I guess I'm a good swimmer, just lazy.

Nope, and it stops me from learning to drive too...what if I crashed into a lake?
(Somehow)Use the air-bag to float to safety.
And don't worry, usually people die of the impact of the car crash rather than drowning :p
So I would say, go for it. Learn how to swim and drive. I mean how do you expect to survive the zombie apocalypse, without these essential skills?

swimming lessons when I was young. I used to love diving to the bottom of the pool and sit on the bottom watching everyone (no not in that way).
