I cheat offline on some RTS games for fun, like the photon troopers in Age of Empires. Sometimes FPS games but mods are more fun.

Used to cheat a lot when I was a kid. But then I got older and realised that cheating completely destroys the fun in accomplishing the goals. So I never cheat anymore unless a menu in the game gives you an option to (like Jak 3 and Uncharted) and still only second time through.

It's been years since I played those games....but if I recall it correctly it's something like E=MC2 isn't it?

I've never cheated online, and I don't cheat as much (almost not at all anymore) offline... but I still suck at RTS.

I cheat offline if I'm really stuck, but only when I'm getting really bored or annoyed. After finishing the game once, I'll usually cheat more, either to find out about secrets and Easter eggs, or if the cheats provide a new and exciting way to play (GTA comes to mind here)

Online, I think that cheating is just done by those who either hate the other players, think that its funny to ruin the game for everyone else or think that they have to cheat in order to win. I despise all three groups. Playing as part of a team properly will net you greater satisfaction, and more respect from fellow players.

I cheat/glitch in Saint's Row 2 and other such open world crime spree games.

I don't cheat/glitch in anything else, though.

I used to look up cheats WAAAYYY back in the day (back when NES was still kewl). Even in my young age I still refused to touch them until I had already beaten a game though. Nowadays it doesn't even feel like it's worth my time to look up cheats since they're against my gaming morals. My little brother on the other hand, is quite the little cheater. I have a lot of fun when I go home though, getting on their computer and getting rid of all his helper programs ^_^

I only ever cheat if there's a really irritating boss fight or something similar, which I've looked up exactly how to do but just keep failing.

This usually happens when there's a part of a game that for no reason is ridiculously hard but is only about half-way through (which happens quite a lot). If that's the case and I've spent hours trying to get past it (again I may know how in theory but just can't do it myself), then I'll add a little God mode or whatever's necessary to get past it so I can actually play and enjoy the rest of the game.

I used to cheat a lot as a kid (Commander Keen and stuff like that), mainly 'cause I sucked at playing games back then.
Nowadays, I only cheat to circumvent a bug or something similar.
I've never cheated online.

Sometimes I trick the enemy AI, though I'm not sure if that's considered cheating? More like bug-using? Or even completely okay?
For example, in Dungeon Keeper, I liked walling the enemy in without any access to gold/jewels where possible (back then you couldn't destroy walls unless you had that special spell), which resulted in the enemy Keeper losing all its creatures because they got pissed that they didn't get paid on pay day.
Or, in Battle for Middle-Earth 2, building Walls all around my base, the AI is too dumb to bring catapults or attack the walls directly. They just... walk around in front of my walls while my defensive towers shoot at them until dead.

The one and only game I EVER cheated in was... The Black Crypt on the Amiga 500. It was your fairy standard first person dungeon crawler a la Eye of The Beholder or Ishar series. The only thing different was that it was... HARD AS FUCK. Not only there was unkillable boss on the very first level that required a special weapon from 3rd level to even hurt him, not only were there monsters that could kill you in 2-3 hits but there were submerged levels, where you were losing HP constantly while not having a special Helm of Underwater Breathing equipped. I don't need to mention that such helmes were only to be found on that underwater level.

The game was sick-fuck difficult and I simply had to haxx0r saves and give my party 10000 HP otherwise it was no fun to play.

I have used an action replay for Pokemon before, but I don't see anything wrong with that.
I would never cheat in an online game though.

Cheating's great fun and i will when i can, but only offline and after i've completed the game first. - online cheater's aren't always douchebags though, some of my favorite SOCOM2 moments where when a cheater game into a lobby with just about everything bar god-mode on and we went all vs him ^_^
