Why not? I mean, besides the religious opposition of "Playing God" do we really have a reason not to clone people?
What can we do with clones? Besides feeding some people's egos. They'll end up killing you anyway because they think they're the original. If they don't have super full consciousness, does that make them second-class?
Why would they think they're the original? Unless you're cloning embryos, then every clone will age normally and the Original will be older, either by a little (few years) or by a lot (up to their deathbed, I suppose). Would a clone be an exact replica? Not as current science stands, as far as I understand it. You'd just be growing a wee copy of you from birth.
As for "what we could do with clones"...I dunno really. Give children to the infertile? Give children to those who simply don't want to have a 'normal' birth? Give children to a couple who doesn't want one partner's genes due to a hereditary disease/defect?
I'm pretty sure we'd find a use for it.

Why not? Technically, aren't we playing human since we make humans already via the sexytime?

Cloning whole people is a bad idea, not the actual process and end result, but the way society would react to such a feat would be messy. We already have enough social issues in the world right now and don't need another one. I do think cloning organs or body part is a good idea though, it would save alot of lives and cut down on the donor-recipient list.
A fair point. We may not be ready for Clones as people with human rights yet, but then - until it happens - will we ever be?
