No.... the REAL question is if i clone my self and have sex with my self is it masturbation?

not that i would - im fat hairy and ugly.. and a bloke.

My opinion is simple, just because we can do something doesn't mean we should - there are some sciences we should understand in theory but avoid in practice on moral grounds, lest we destroy everything we strive for.

Why is it wrong? A clone is EXACTLY the same thing as an identical twin, it will not be exactly alike you.
that's from a natural standpoint. If you clone yourself where is the f*cking point in that? Hurray there is another me!.......... now what?

the wrong part comes from religion. If it happens except riots and (no pun intended) clone wars.

I don't see what we could gain from making a duplicate of someone we already have.

It's wrong to make humans outside of the natural way they were supposed to be made. It's as bad, in my mind, as extramarital relations. It is playing God, which we have no right to do. Period. No. Wrong.

Personally, I would love to clone myself and have a million Kims.

Then I could finally have my own army!! Muahahaha! -snip-
SEE? IT'S HAPPENING ALREADY!
X-D
How could you not expect me to want an army? I do wanna take over the world ya'know.

Also, whenever I walk anywhere with my clones, I want this song to play in the background.

Oh, I know...but I like being somewhat original!
And I love the March.
It is wonderful.
I should play it next weekend. During the company picnic.
Can i take a guess that you [Neonbob] would make a nuclear bomb into a person and clone that one person, millions of times. Then you could really nuke the whales.

They're already cloning dogs for the express purpose of using them for medical research.

So why not create humans?

Hmmm, clones will inevitably turn on us for putting them to work in the spice mines of Saturn, but then......think of having handy and available clones of Natalie Portman everywhere....I mean, just imagine.......

As long as they are treated as human, with full sets of rights, and not turned into slaves, I don't see the problem. It would be a big problem if they were treated as less than human, which I could see happening due to stupidity, but they wouldn't be. A clone would be just as real as any person, if you disagree then I would wonder what you think about twins.

The argument that we shouldn't 'play god' is incredibly simple minded. I don't want to turn this into a theological debate, but why should those that believe in deities have any sway over people who don't. That point being in response to someone likely bring up some idea of 'souls' or something of the like.
Well, I don't think easily corruptable humans should have control over the population. You know, so some crazy dictator hiding in his lifeless basement doesn't hit the 'clone nao' button that could easily wipe out tons of innocent people.

people are asshole enough as it is, why make MORE of the people we already have?
Delicious, delicious organs.

Mmmmmm...

Don't play God.

Please.

And I say this not only from a religious perspective, but who the hell is good enough to play god on earth anyway? And what the hell would you use them for anyway? You just bring someone in the world to live in this disgusting place and die a horrible death.
Very negative view you have of the world, keep it up!
But that aside as a flippant remark, playing god is a phrase bandied about too often these days. Clone a sheep? Playing god. Harvest organs? Playing god! Eating undeveloped babies? Playing god!
Seriously, not even god was good enough to play god.
A human could do much better than an omnipotent being, right?

People that kill eachother, everyday.

Even though I have no idea how eating babies and harvesting organs counts as playing god. XD

Nice avatar you have there, too. Chaos FTW.

You could have a copy, not tell anyone, and take it in turns going to work while the other one sits at home playing computer games- you could also play some marvelous tricks on ex girlfriends- really, the legitimate applications are boundless.

I want to know why we'd want to do that in the first place, aside from the obligatory "because we can" which is really rather idiotic. Besides having another me wandering around would be really weird.

Why not? I mean, besides the religious opposition of "Playing God" do we really have a reason not to clone people?
What can we do with clones? Besides feeding some people's egos. They'll end up killing you anyway because they think they're the original. If they don't have super full consciousness, does that make them second-class?
Well Ba'al from Stargate had clones who served him pretty well....Though as to what you said about the original having a massive ego....Ba'al did have an enormous ego.

Why not? If the only argument against it is based in religion, then I say do it. Religion has impeded scientific advancement long enough. I am for it, and will remian so until I'm convinced that it could bring about severe consquences. Besides, that would make it so much easier to keep our army strong, just make sure you have an effecient way of stopping them first. We sure don't need real life rampant Replica Soldiers.

My only problem is basically: If you can't have kids, there is probably a reason for it. If you can't get laid, there is probably a reason for it. Both are the only reasons (mainly) that cloning will be used.

Now if they clone me because I get killed in a dumbass accident, I'm ok with that I think, so long as there are no screw ups nor a second clone of me running around.

Does a clone then count as human? What about a robot? What defines a human? Love? A soul?

Just easier if we keep me to being just me and not bother cloning me. For the purposes of stem cells or something then sure, why not.

I say yes.

1. To say we're smart enough to do it. Serves our ego.

2. There are some useful genes I wouldn't mind spreading around more. It's a way to enhance the gene pool Hitler style without you know, killing people.
