I find it ugly and occasionally shout 'COMIC SAAAAAAAAAAAAANS!' when I encounter it.

Like so.
I do this as well. It looks way too amateurish for my taste. It looks like it's attempting to seem hand-written but isn't doing a very good job.

Call me crazy, but it's just a font...
I never even knew people had a problem with it until just now and I'm so confused. Ok so a lot of people use it outside of comics...so what?

What a pathetic world...where there are a substantial number of people bitching about a popular COMPUTER FONT.

Maybe we should ban Times New Roman, and Arial, or perhaps all of the block-print Sans-Sarif fonts while we're at it just to be safe.
I mean, how does shit like this even get STARTED?

Now I'm can only imagine there's some lunatic (like an ex computer-science teacher), who started this stupid movement, sitting in his/her basement sipping Absinthe and wearing a shirt that says "HELVETICA FOR LIFE".

As a typographile who practices typographilia on a regular basis, the sight of Comic Sans dismays me.

Only one other thing shaves off a greater sliver of my soul than Comic Sans used in a presentable way, and that is Microsoft Word '97 wavy WordArt template.

Well, hey; the first Google Image result for "Church Newsletter" has both. Quelle friggin' surprise

Typography: Serious Business.

Haven't used it since junior high, when Times New Roman became the required font for anything typed.

Who the fuck even uses Comic Sans anymore?

I used to hold a personal distain for Comic Sans, but I have to say in recent times it has somewhat been overshadowed by the insistent use of Papyrus.

Every fucker under the sun has been churning this fucking type face out since it was used for Avatar. As far as I can tell people seem to think it gives anything they're trying to convey or advertise a certain degree of authenticity or historical context. It does for professionalism what Comic Sans does for inclusive modernity; i.e nothing what-so-fucking ever.

It is the standard "look how fun and laid back I am" Font. Being a Graphic Design Major, I've been told to hate it, it is used way more often than it should and looks highly unprofessional.

I read your comment with mild interest but I must say I laughed once I got to the last sentence! I would definitely buy that shirt! :D I do find it interesting that most people are so oblivious to it's massive use, but are so quick to bash the use of something so under used in comparison, such as Comic Sans.

It's ugly and overused. But trying to outright ban it won't help anyone who doesn't have the sense to not use it. It's now so famous that if it got taken out people would go after it. Better to have a flier entirely in Comic Sans than to have one mixing all kinds of fonts. You know that people who use comic sans and people who know what serif and sans serif means and that they should not mix are mutually exclusive groups.

Alternative, stupid post:

It's ugly and overused, just like your mom.

I think its overuse is comical, and generally pretty badly done. Its funny to see people actually get worked up over it though.

Haters gonna hate.
Reaaaaaally don't care about one silly font. Not a favorite of mine, but I won't explode in anger whenever I see someone using it.

It's like this with all fads - whenever a certain thing gets popular, many of the "more experienced" folks start hating it.

Silly wannabe hipsters.

i may have been beaten to at referencing it, but i bet i'm the only one to have it nice and convenient for all the lazy peoples of the internet

OT: i really don't care about it, and even have trouble pointing it out to be honest

I think anyone who gets that pissy over a font has no business with any sort of power. Over anything.
Bless your soul, for it possesses the virtue of rationality.

I wholeheartedly agree.

I have no issue with Comic Sans. It's just another font to me. As long as you can read it, then what does it matter? It's certainly not painful to look at, either. Not that it looks particularly good, but that's beside the point.
