It's occurred to me that we gamers have really gotten the short end of the short end of the stick this generation. All three of the main consoles that came out this generation are still expensive and rather lackluster.

Without naming any names, we've got an overpriced children's toy, an overpriced console that is pretty well built but receives horrible support (oftentimes taking away features rather than adding them), and another overpriced console that gets good support but has notoriously bad hardware problems. The latter two's problems are so bad that they've had a couple of (class action) lawsuits leveled at them.

What about you? How many of these consoles do you have? How many of these $250+ consoles are you happy with?

In the interest of avoiding a flame war, I'm not going to include any name in the poll and I beg the rest of you to keep the conversation constructive. If there's any group that could keep this discussion in the realm of tasteful, it's you guys.

Sorry if the poll seems a bit stunted or one sided but this is the first time I used all 8 options and wish I had a couple more.
actually this is the most through, unbiased poll i have seen. good on ya.

dont have a playstations 3, might get one at some point. dont use my pc, been out of the loop for too long. the wii is just that: a childs toy, although a great party console, lookin foward to red steel 2, but i havent had a free moment in a week and a half. xbox is ol reliable for me, and my primary console, admittidly this is mainly because i have so much money dedicated to it already, i am reluctant to change

Wheres the "I have all three consoles, they're ok but I prefer my P.C except I'm not crazy" poll option?

I have an Xbox 360, and I'm one of those people who has had the same console for years, no problems. I have the console I originally bought 4 (maybe 5? I can't remember) years ago. *knocks on wood*

I absolutely love it, and the only problem I have is that I can't play console exclusive games for Wii or PS3, since I can't really afford the other two systems.

I also have a pretty nice gaming rig, that was top of the line only a few years back, when I still had money. I don't play many new PC games, though, since the whole DRM thing has really turned me off of PC gaming. My buddy is a dedicated PC gamer, and he goes through hell sometimes trying to get his games to work.

I have a very decent PC for gaming and a DS. Everything I want or need I can find on both consoles.

I've owned all three systems, and i got rid of all but my PS3. I also have a PC but i don't use it much for gaming, it can handle it but there isn't a lot coming out for it i really want. Until SC2 comes out and Cataclysm drops i won't use it for gaming much at all.

My PS3 has given me tons of fun times and i wouldn't dream of trading it in.

So yeah, i have to say i am pretty happy.

I've got all three + DS Lite and PSP - 360 still gets the most attention, Wii gets a heavy dose once or twice a year (Tiger Woods PGA and Mario usually), and PS3 would get more but I've had it the least amount of time, so not much to play on it yet (FF XIII and that's about it).

The Wii gets a tentative "good" rating. I loved Metroid Prime 3 and Super Mario Galaxy (and LoZ: Twilight Princess, but I bought that for the GameCube). However, there's just not enough here. Stop tailoring to casual gamers, Nintendo, and a lot of your fans would return to you!
What about Conduit, Mad World, Super Smash Brothers Brawl, Red Steel 2, Umbrella Chronicles and No More Heroes 2? Also I think this whole casual gamer vs hardcore gamer thing is rather silly. There hasn't been that many 'mini game' collection games released for a while. (and it's not like Nintendo is the only one making them)
While you do make a valid point, I didn't mean that the three I mentioned were the ONLY ones out there. They're just my favorites, and the most recognizable Nintendo franchises (hmm...I forgot Brawl, oddly enough: that's my most played Wii game!). As for the "casual v.s. hardcore" argument, I don't mean to say casual games are bad, or that I have anything against the gamers associated with them. Hell, an increase in gamers is good for the business, almost regardless of what they play. However, the Wii doesn't seem to have enough games that aren't "kiddy" or for parties; something aimed more for us "adults". The Wii is a perfectly fine piece of hardware, but right now I find it lacking when seen at the perspective of someone who has been playing video games all their life, and expects more out of their gaming systems.

At any rate, Nintendo isn't the real problem in the C vs H argument: the true culprit is Zygna with all those social network "games" on Facebook.

I guess that's how MS & Sony are trying to hook in and keep their customers.
I'm sure that there are quite a few console owners who would switch if they hadn't already spent a bunch of money on PSN/XBLA or got a bunch of trophies/achievements.
I know money spent is one of the reasons I haven't jumped ship yet and right now it's the ONLY reason I'm thinking of staying with the same brand when the next generation comes around. Of course if backwards compatibility again takes a back seat when that time comes it wont matter much.
