I don't understand why people that say they approve of gay marrige also approve of the gay marrige hating protests...

Either way, that Baptist Church protest group are totally nuts. But you'd think they'd accept others, being that Christianity is all about accepting others for who they are..

It can't work. Kids need a mother and father. There are certain things a mother can do, like re-assure, tender hand etc that a gay man simply cannot give.
Why can't a gay man give reassurances or a tender hand exactly?

I assume those are the people who believe in freedom of speech, no matter what.
You know, the kind of guys that'd say stuff like "I don't agree with them but I'd defend their right to say it to the death" about a KKK-rally.

There are only ten members in the Westboro Baptist Church.
Almost all of them are the family of Mr. Phelps.

Okay?

They're just dicks.

Oh, and for example of good Christians, remember when that milk-man shot and killed five little girls and then killed himself at an Amish school?

The families of the girls went to milk-man's funeral, offering their condolences, holding no grudges, and forgiving absolutely.

That's what Christianity is about.
This, oh a hundred times this.

I really find the Westbro church story rather tragic, That one man (Mr. Phelps) could indoctrinate and ruin the lives of his whole family like that.

Well I believe it's a natural mothering instinct that every mother has. Whether they choose to use it is up to them though. Regardless of orientation, men are born fathers, not mothers...otherwise they'd be women.

So by that logic, no one apart from your mother can offer you comfort or reassurances? I find that quite hard to believe. And altohugh I do think maternal isntinct plays into parts of women being more sensitive to their child, men are also capable of being comforting, whether they are gay or straight as they helped create the child too and wouldn't care any less for their child than a mother just because they are men.

By your logic, fathers are unsympathetic and can't offer reassurances because they are men? That could quite possibly the one of the dumbest thing I've seen on the internet..

Oh these people again. What can i say that hasnt already been said about them, yes theyre off their fucking rocker.
Agreed - I saw them on that Louis Theroux program, and they are either/and/or insane, attention whores, or brain washed.

Either way, I think the simple solution to dealing with these protests is to have the whole church arrested for acting suspectiously around a school yard. And the have them beat up in jail by the people they call 'fags'.

Agreed. And true, the 'church' is just this attention whoring cow's front for her activities. For once, the UK government made the right choice and boycotted the buggers from entering out land.

I don't suppose we could ask the Pope to, just this once, declare them heretics and have them burned at the sake? I know he's not suppose to allow that sort of thing anymore, but I think everyone wouldn't mind.

Hells yes.

Anyway, I believe that marriage should be a religious thing only and separation of church and state should apply to it as well.

Wow. I'm from California, (am a Christian, voted against gay marriage, for the record) and we went through this whole debate with protesters on both sides and everything, and we didn't have crazies like that. I don't care what they call themselves, they are NOT Christians. Jesus isn't about hate and damnation, but about love, repentance, and salvation. What God hates is when His name is used for evil.

I didn't say that, get the hell off you're high horse. I'm saying that there is a natural mothering instinct. I didn't say men COULDN'T offer reassurances, I said women were better at it.

Urgh, these people are still doing stuff? They still think that people care about what they have to say? I think I actually pity the WBC. Especially the younger Phelps kids who were just brainwashed into this kind of bollocks.

Yes; no. There are limits to free speech. There is no value of any kind in this speech; it is pure hate.

The westbro baptist church make me angry on a level I cannot even explain. I hope their is a god now, so he can send these ignorant, intolerable, hateful cunts to the deepest bowels of hell. Im perfectly fine with the protesting whatever they want, but that doesn't mean they can do it 'wherever' they want. Im glad that England has banned any member of the WBC from entering this country.
Wow, you rock England!! I wish we could ban them too. "sigh" I do believe in freedom of speech, but I also believe you can abuse a freedom. The dead soldiers protest was way out of line on so many different levels and the school protest is inexcuseable. Disturbance of the peace and harassment are also against the law or so I thought.

I believe that people should marry whoever they want and whatever gender they are. It bothers me that people become so obsessed over this. I mean how does it personally affect you if 2 men or 2 women get married? Does it actually have any minute affect on your life?

The Phelps are like the modern Hapsburgs, inbreeding for generations makes retarded (yes, i mean that) people. They'll all die eventually, genetics oblige.

They act like the kid in pre-school who shoots rubber bands at girls, any attention (even bad)is better than no attention, or maybe worse, they might actually truely believe they're angels on earth bringing god's true word (retards, again...)

I'm surprised though that they haven't had a close encounter with a US Army issue crowbar after all those funeral protests, they must have one hell of a "security detail"

Sorry, but the Westboro Baptist Church is the closest anyone will get to being a True Christian. They don't ignore as much of the Bible as anyone else. The book clearly is homophobic and sexist, repugnant with horrible morals, and factually bankrupt. Atleast they have the cohones to believe most of it.

1st Amendment protects their speech and I support them even though I completely disagree with them on everything they stand for. Our country is great because we can express our differences vocally.

Think about this, the Westboro Baptist Church only yells and holds signs when they get offended. Others strap bombs onto themselves or torch publishers.

Troll's tend not to have 1500+ posts. How many do you have?

Actually I was giving my actual opinion. I actually believe that they're worthy of more respect than other 'pickers-and-choosers'. And way to erase the valid point after the first paragraph.....troll.
