Im pretty sure this thread is why people have friends.
I have a great male friend who means a lot to me.
I have an amazing girl friend who i can have sex with.

Everybody is a winner.

I don't think it'd happen. See, with love there's also some chemistry involved and I think it's rather hard to convince Mother Nature that you love someone of another gender than she intended for you, so to speak.

I'll love the guy sure, and we could even be roomates or something. But a romantic relationship would not be possible since (despite the fact I can appreciate his handsome physique) I'm not physically attracted to him. At best we could have a Sherlock/Watson thing going on and solve dastardly crimes.

What? Hell no.

Look, I'm not trying to be offensive or anything, but aren't gay activists always claiming that you are born gay? Well guess what? It works the same way with hetero's.

Could you overlook gender? Erm, heterosexual means you are attracted to the OPPOSITE sex. There is no choice in the matter.
There have been cases of people being entirely straight and falling for someone of the same sex... it's rare but it happens, happened to one of my friends anyway.... was dating girls for years, meets this guy and they wound up being together, but he finds no other guys attractive, just him....

anyway back on topic... being pansexual I do tend to fall in love with the person not the gender....

Well, they'd certainly be a very good friend but when it comes to a partner they have to be sexually attractive to me and someone of the same gender is not going to tick that box.

Then your friend is gay. You cant be heterosexual and date a guy, thats not how it works. He is either gay or bi... but certainly not heterosexual.

Thanks for the reminder, though, I totally forgot to add at the end of the Love Fest Optimism Pamphlet, "So, for me, the answer is yes."

Now, can we begin the true love?
*Sigh*

... Yes.

Oh, and The Left Hand of Darkness is alright. It's well-written anyway, so if you like how the science fiction bromance with aliens idea plays out, it might be for you.
