Statistically if one would have kids with there first cousin there no more likely to have genetic deformities/illnesses then any other couple...

I'd guess that most of us have hot cousins...

In my position this is okay, in Japan it's fairly normal...

unless your friend got blue blood its not okay, i had an crush on my cousin when i was younger, but then i turned 8 and i realized how disgusting it was.

A one generation inbreeding is harmless. You don't grow a third arm.

Every family has some slight mutations or genetic deficiencies. Those are normally bred out with other people, however in a family, these wont be. Therefore as time and many many generations go on, these can be more pronounced, as in, more severe and non fading. Which is why it's discouraged to do it for even one generation, the government doesn't want you to start a trend in your family that could lead to severe problems in 5 generations.

I cannot recall the name, but some historical royalty kept inbreeding and they had a hemophilia problem. This couldn't be balanced out with outside blood, so the mutation that is hemophilia wasn't eliminated and their family all but perished.
