Well, my friend and I are in a bit of debate. He is into his cousin, like REALLY into his cousin, like wants a serious relationship with her, no she isn't hsi third or second cousin, his first cousin. Personally I think it's a bit messed up. He rationalises it like so, "Well for one my Aunt, her mom, disowned my half of the family, I haven't seen her in five years, and even before that five year gap she and I have only seen each other twice." So in his mind, they are only "technically" related. Being his best friend, I'm inclined to be concerned on this, so I ask you friends, what's your view on cousin lovin'?

If he doesn't want kids, then having mutant offspring isn't an issue, as long as he knows how to practice safe sex. Truth is that many "horny motherfuckers" have difficulty with exactly that so he needs to be careful obviously.

One cousin-shag probably won't cause his entire world to collapse. The social ramifications might be more than he bargained for though, so he has to be careful there. Sex is never just about sex, even when it's just about sex.

As a general rule its fucked up to show any such intrest as the OP described his cousin having. However a step-sister(or brother) is fine by me as your not blood relatives, and if you can get over living in the same house with them especially if your having sex then more power to ya. But if I had a step sister who was good looking and she felt the same about me. You better believe that....I'd have no qualms about fucking her brains out in a heart beat

While mentally, I have nothing opposed to that relation because he barely knows her, I DO have problems with it because of problems with highly increased chances of birth defects in children. Now, should they no thave children, this is a moot point, but it still feels kinda creepy to me.

EDIT: Sorry if I seem a little harsh about this but frankly there's a reason there's laws against this. It's biologically unsafe. It's not fair on the kids, it's not fair on the couple and it's not fair on the family. I'd say break it off before they do any damage.

EDIT of DEATH!: Hang on...Why the fuck am I explaining myself here? Incest is just wrong, plain and simple. This is not like homophobia where it will become exceptable in a couple of years. This is something that ingrained into our psychy, we know from birth that it's wrong to fuck our siblings and other family members. I think it would be ok for maybe second or third cousins. Or if the person in question was technically married into the family- so theres no real relation. No matter what it is a kind of a taboo for cousins to date or be intimate.

First cousin I think is just too related and would cause too many genetic problems for them down the road, at least if they wanted to make and raise a family.

Love is indecisive and crazy for a lot of people though. If they really are in love or like each other that much... it will be hard to stop them from pursuing it...

Interestingly enough, there exist no physical risks (to parents or child) with first generation inbreeding. It's once you get two or three generations marrying their sister (four or five with first cousin: it's a tenuous blood relation) that the deformities crop up.
