Unless I am very much mistaken, it is quite illegal here in the United States.
Actually, you'd be wrong there. At least in Colorado, it's perfectly legal to marry your first cousin. Found this out while researching laws on getting marriage licenses.

6 people on this site are apperently rednecks. How they got their 6 fingered inbred hands on a computer, I do not know.

I think you should sleep with her. Then your friend won't want to touch her with a barge pole. However, if you don't want to be punched in the balls and lose a good friend, tell him go for it, just remember to use every type of contraception known to man. Charles Darwin married his cousin AND wrote the laws of evolution, so if he thinks it's cool, who are we to argue.

Edit: Also, is this actually your friend, or do you have an embarrasing secret?
Also, also, it is apparantly illegal in Indiana

Tell him that siblings (or cousins) aren't allowed to have sexual relationships because of genetic issues, not social ones. Because well, it's the truth.

You're very much mistaken. As far as I remember fully half the states PERMIT first cousins to marry. Some have special riders like "no double first cousins" or "no procreating" but over fifteen of them place no extra restrictions on cousins at all. All those stereotypical southern states like Alabama... South Carolina... California... Massachusetts... New York....

And it's only an actual crime in maybe a dozen states.

In other words, first cousin marriage is more permissible in the US than gay marriage.

Am I the only one who finds this vaguely disturbing?

Kinda creepy, for sure. But if it's what they both want, then I guess whatever makes them happy. If one of them has senond thoughts or isnt interested in the other, then yea, I'd say he should shy away from his cousin.

EDIT: When generations of family keep interbreeding with cousins then you run into trouble...
THANK YOU

A one generation inbreeding is harmless. You don't grow a third arm.

Every family has some slight mutations or genetic deficiencies. Those are normally bred out with other people, however in a family, these wont be. Therefore as time and many many generations go on, these can be more pronounced, as in, more severe and non fading. Which is why it's discouraged to do it for even one generation, the government doesn't want you to start a trend in your family that could lead to severe problems in 5 generations.

I cannot recall the name, but some historical royalty kept inbreeding and they had a hemophilia problem. This couldn't be balanced out with outside blood, so the mutation that is hemophilia wasn't eliminated and their family all but perished.
First of all I demand to know where you acquired that avatar the last time I saw it, it was in possession of Pimpeter and now you have it and I still don't know where it's from.

Now on topic, cousins are off limits... period. But if she's hot then maybe I'll jump on that, but whoever this guy is he needs to back off and get a new girl.

Uhh thats kind weird, but if you don't mind sleeping with your family then I guess its all you. As for me, no thanks. Rather keep my family IQ from going down the drain.

Haemophilia was a problem for the European royalty in the 19th and 20th centuries. Queen Vicky apparently spontaneously developed the disease and passed it on to her daughters, who married into different royal houses in Europe; the disease spread accordingly.

Another example of royalty and inbreeding is the famous Hapsburg lip -- by the time it got to Charles II of Spain the effect was so great he couldn't chew his own food. (Thanks to inbreeding he was also retarded and impotent; upon his death the Spanish Hapsburgs died out completely. Unsurprisingly, he wasn't a very effective king.)

First of all, why is everyone mentioning kids and birth defects? They're teens and it's only one generation.

OT: I personally find it pretty gross, and last time I checked this is the mainstream opinion. However, my opinion isn't what matters, it's how they feel what other people will think of them.

Do they really want to have the stigma of having had sex with their first cousin just because their horny? In love, eeeeh, I'd still ask them to reconsider. But just based on physical impulses alone? No way.The social sigma attached to this is way to heavy and I doubt it's baggage they'd be willing to carry, and I doubt they understand how big of a deal it is. As a friend I would point out what other people will think if they find out, but it will become his defining characteristic.

Does you're friend want to become "that guy who fucked his cousin"? Seriously make him consider the implications of what he's considering.

And besides, his cousin isn't the only hot person in the world.

EDIT: I see all this crap "Well if they're in love..." They aren't in love, they're two teens who want to have sex. Also to further my above point about if they can handle the social stigma, I doubt he can. You, as his best friend, are already concerned and he's trying to rationalize to you, someone he respects and trusts.

If he's rationalizing to you and you two are close, he can't handle the public eye.
