no. As for why it's wrong, that is more of a social more/taboo, depending on proximity, than any actual reasoning, but it's pretty much what every person has to go and act on. From a slightly more personal stand point, my female siblings and cousins were raised in close proximity, so there's that fun little defusing that occurs that actually prevents me from seeing them sexually.
How sure are you that the cousin was coming on to you? Because, if you do intend to pursue that line, you really really want to make sure you aren't misinterpreting it.

I know what you mean. I try not to think too much about the details or outcomes but it's hard not to especially involving my family in this way. But I do really like her and she likes me so... I dunno...PayJ567 said:

The purpose of dating is to find a suitable mate. So, in my opinion, if you didn't intend to marry, have sex with, and have children with them, then the dating is pointless. I might be a little old fashioned about it, but hey, you asked.
No. In spite of the fact that such activity was relatively common a century or so ago, it just doesn't sit well with me. It could be based on little more than the fact that I'm more than a decade older than my female cousins but I suspect social stigma plays a part as well. Of course, outside of the occasional family gathering, I never see them in the first place so if the previous two points were rendered moot my answer would remain the same.
I'm astounded by the amount of horrific negatives in this thread- I'd like to say I'm shocked that very few people followed the original guidelines in answering it, but frankly I'm not. The question, Is it gross, and if so, WHY?
I think I can comment here. Gross is probably not the term I would use. Disturbing, perhaps. I have about 15 female first cousins, and they are all very attractive- good genes. But would I hook up with one? No...no, I don't think so. My reason for this, aside from the totally obvious reasons that come from dating a family member (being ostricized, birth defects, blah blah heard it all) is that we're all just enough alike for it to be creepy. I couldn't look at a blood relative lustiliciously, possibly because thoughts like, "Oh, we have the same nose!" would pop into my head.
But a cousin not related by blood? Pfft, whatever. No blood, no relation.

Most everyone. Even if they don't say anything, there is that heavy stigma of violating one of our social norms. You can explain it away how you are not blood related and you care for each other, but it comes down to people's perceptions, and what we have in the US is the perception that entering into a relationship with our family members is deviant.Sacman said:

For me, it's nothing to do with the "wrongness" of it, it's just that it seems weird to me. I was very close to my extended family in my childhood, and in addition to my closest in age first-cousin is 16 years older than me, my closest in age second-cousin is 11, and being estranged from everyone more distant than that, it'd just be too uncomfortable dating someone I knew I was related to by blood.
