Tentative yes, while it's something I would like (I bought Shadowrun) considering the additional expense and resources tied up in adding such functionallity to a game, I'd rather developers worked on more important aspects than this type of feature.

That was a RUMOR. It even says it in the link. No one from Microsoft has commented on that, ever. Plus, if I recall, they used Unreal Tournament and Gears of War as examples, which Unreal Tournament 3 isn't even a GFWL title.
Wouldn't even matter.
UT3
Team Deathmatch
Team A uses regular mouse/keyboard
Team B uses a gamepad on their PCs.

I don't see the logistical problem here.
Except..
If you buy a shooter on PC, chances are you want to play KB/Mouse =3

Unless you can name me one FPS that wouldn't have a KB/Mouse advantage. =3
What? I'm not sure what you're getting at. I was merely commenting that the UT3 match during the rumored console vs PC test would have been possible even though it's not GFWL.
Just because it is physically possible to have the match take place does not mean it will be a fair game.
Anyone versed in the topic will tell you that the reflex and precision advantage that KB/Mouse will have over a Controller us undeniably overwhelming. They have done the tests on this, and a FPS game between the two control mediums is just not feasible.

And while you 'could' have both sides use standardized controls (Both use Controller or both use KB/Mouse) That would be defeating the point as I'm sure anyone who bought a FPS on PC didn't do so to use a Controller, same goes for consoles.

Did you even bother reading what was going on in the thread, or did you just feel the need to come in and start talking without a single clue of what was going on?

Right back at you, as I am merely repeating things from higher in the thread that people are obviously not grasping.

It'd be good for co-op games like Portal 2, but it'd be tricky to have for a deathmatch-type game; control differences could make it a bit unbalanced.

Do you really want the PC players to dominate console players in multiplayer?
Yes, if only to prove a point to those that insist that the controller isn't inferior, or, rather, has its own advantages over the mouse and keyboard.
In racing games and platformers it's better, but I suppose that's not in contention.

Anyway, would that make it lag a bit more than usual? It'd be especially helpful for games with smaller communities, as they could double or triple in size.

I'm not so sure. I voted 'Yes' at first, but then I had second thoughts.

Say there were people with XBoxes and people with PC's up against each other, who would be more likely to win. PC, since it has superior aiming capabilities than an XBox or PS3 controller.

NO.NONONONONO.

It would just be rascist 10 year olds from xbox screaming insults at PS3 owners who have no headset to respond with while the PC master race gloats about proccessors and framerates and doesn't shut the fuck up about the whole PC versus console bullshit and just play the damn game. All while wii owners... Does the wii even have multiplayer?

It shouldn't be done. If the Xbox Live players were in contact with Nintendo WFC's users, there'd be a lot of crying children and a lot of Wiimotes hurled across rooms.
But...Xbox players don't use a wii controller!
heh....

OP: Shadowrun on the PS2/PC did it. But it was a pretty big failure as the PC users dominated the PS2 players. (That's not meant to sound elitist!) Eventually the game stopped because there was almost no PS2 players.
But the Wii Remore was recently made compatible with the PS3, so they could join in.

Cross-Platform would actuall be a very good idea, from a developers standpoint it kind of rules out exclusive DLC because it'd completely screw up the communities. From a player standpoint, well, yeah as a PC Gamer, I know full well I have an extreme advantage over console players. So, in that light, I'd also want dedicated servers, with a server browers, where you could set 'PC only' or 'Console only' or 'Unrestricted'. So everyone could either play together, or play separately, but get the same game, nonetheless.
This. If you want to play an game with just your console siblings, go for it. Set up a server and have a ball. Likewise for PC gaming.

While I agree that a PC gamer using a keyboard and mouse has an advantage, I don't think it should matter. If you buy a game for your console, then really you should be prepared to deal with the natural disadvantages that come from the controller. Likewise, if you buy a game for the PC, then you shouldn't have a game crippled by your preference. If you had the option of a top end PC and a console in your house, would you buy CODBLOPS for the PC or the console? If you picked the console over the PC, then you have made a choice in your preference. Same for the PC.

I am rambling a little bit.

Basically I am trying to say you takes your pick, you makes your choice. If a game came out with PCs vs consoles, gimping the PC gamers would mean PC gamers would be less likely to play it. I say let them all frag one another, and as the old saying goes: "It's just a game."

I was replying to someone who was doubting the truthfulness to a rumored face off between PC and console gamers due to UT3 not being GFWL. I have no idea what the hell you're going on about.

I do, I just don't want a cross platform FPS. But then again, that's what most multiplayer games are today anyways...
