4 out of 5 people enjoy gang rape.

OT: All humor has a target, and I'm in the camp that believes everything's fair game. And that's all I have to say, because your poll shows you don't intend to have a serious conversation about this.

Yes, rape is acceptable to joke about; it just needs to be done properly because it's a dangerous subject.

Yes, I will still watch Daniel Tosh's comedy specials.

No, I won't watch his show, because I dislike seeing real people get hurt.

This is all blown out of proportion. Yes, he's a douche, a not very funny douche, but it is just a joke and she's taking it personally. If you can't take a joke, don't go to a show where someone tells jokes. Seems like common sense to me.

I've never seen any of his stand-up, but if it's anything like Tosh.0 I'm glad I never did. That shit is embarrassingly unfunny.

As for rape jokes. Anything can be made funny, it just depends on how it's done. Watch Michael Richards' infamous stand-up on how to do it wrong.

Nice biased poll there. I'm sure it will give you the results you were looking for.

I think Daniel Tosh is funny. Sure, sometimes he gets a little dark, but that's part of his routine.

Oh, and thanks for starting another thread on the Escapist about rape. We sure don't have enough of those around here.
Maybe you think we get too many of those because the topic of rape makes you uncomfortable. It should. Don't run away from it, but face it head on and understand the reality of it. Rape is NEVER funny. Ask anyone who's ever been a victim. Ask any cop that's had to give out a rape kit, or help someone through a line up. Serious business.

Where's a "yes" poll option? I thought it was funny and I will continue to watch Tosh.0 and any future comedy specials involving Daniel Tosh.
Just as I'll continue to post, retweet, and tweet this story to everyone I can until Tosh either apologizes or suffers monetary losses as the result of people no longer wishing to support him by consuming his product.
That's hilarious, but i think it would be better for you to have a more constructive purpose to your life. Eh, then again what would the internet be without its swarms of white knights? (Probably far better off.)
Yeah, I'm the asshole that think gang rape threats aren't totally funny. I must be with the PC police, yea? I'm just ruining everybody's fun by being a wet blanket.
Did you even read the goddamn "R Word" article posted on this very site not but a few weeks ago?

For me everything in comedy and art is fair game. Rape, murder, religion, poverty, child-molestation, coprophilia, curling, and facebook.

Tosh may have overstepped his bounds, but it shouldn't be seen as anything more than a comedian doing his job, he didn't yell at people to rape her.

Just as the woman who heckled him shouldn't be seen as anything more than a offended viewer.

Glad to see that you'll stand behind a guy that thinks gang rape is funny.
Having that silly poll isn't really helping your cause IMO.
This. And misleading sensationalist title of the thread could be changed.

I did and I didn't see a single threat in it so your thread title is totally misleading and sensationalist

The gist of the story is

Woman goes to comedy gig
Comedian tells joke she doesn't agree with
She heckles comedian
Comedian heckles her back
She can't handle this so leaves and complains to manager
She bitches about it on the internet

This is a fucking non-story if I ever saw one

Cool.

I don't come onto the Escapist for srs bzns.

Look, I know rape isn't funny. Of course the topic upsets me, it'll make anybody upset because it's a very real problem that happens in the real world. It's just been discussed numerous times. We know. Targeting Daniel Tosh for the sake of targeting Daniel Tosh, as if it's his fault rape is such a big problem isn't fair. He's a comedian. It's what he does. The woman who was offended has every right to be.

However, part of the type of comedy Tosh does is it's supposed to instill a reaction out of the viewers. Sometimes it's the wrong reaction, but a reaction nonetheless.

I'm not "running away" from the topic of rape, I'm here aren't I?

I just don't see what can truly be accomplished by this little "crusade" against Tosh you seem to be hell-bent on pursuing here.

You mean you back-peddling right? Because it looks to me like he isn't actually apologizing for anything and has no intention to. He's just stating the same things most people in this thread are, that jokes done about terrible things are fine as long as they are done tastefully.

Edit: just wanted to say again, I don't think he is funny at all. I just think that the chick should have know what she was getting into.

Checking his twitter, he gave a small apology before saying that. But it's still not backpedaling, merely responding to her offendedness and then followed up with a statement that pretty much sums up my feelings on the issue.

His next show has clowns apparently, perhaps we will await the possible "clown jokes are never funny" heckling from a coulrophobic.

I've heard him say worse. Personally, I've never really liked this comedic styling. While you shouldn't say someone should be gang-raped, he is a comedian and that's his personal style.

It's like going to that restaurant 'Dick's' and being offended, there's no point.

Now, if he actually gangraped her, that'd be pretty fucked up. :p
