Fake humor. It's fake humor. It's ironic that you'll defend a non-comedian's right to tell not-jokes, but you lose your shit when people say that shit isn't funny.

Rape jokes are not "complex", and if you think so, that says more about the workings of your mind than about the "humor" itself.

Jokes like that are the opposite of complex, and they usually appeal to people who are incapable of complex thought.
Agreed. Rape jokes are lazy and one-note. The joke is not clever or intelligent or thoughtful or poignant. It's just the same mix of macho pablum and sociosexual immaturity that feeds off a very real misogyny.

I love people like George Carlin or David Cross. I'm no stranger to "controversial" humor. But there's a huge difference between laughing at something because it uses absurdity and caustic wit to dissect and disempower a concept, and laughing at something because hehehe rape.

Grow up plz.

One: Rape can be funny. It's best when it's a horrible person or some created fictional character used as a straw man for people like her (I could point to a VGCats comic that did this and it was rather hilarious).

Two: Tosh says his style of humour is basically to start out broad with a joke and then narrow the auidence until only 6 people are still laughing. Often this means he gets pretty vulgar. Not saying I agree with the joke but honestly I like Tosh even if he is a bit of an arse.

Where's a "yes" poll option? I thought it was funny and I will continue to watch Tosh.0 and any future comedy specials involving Daniel Tosh.

If you go into a comedy club with Daniel Tosh, you have no right to be shocked by the content. You know what you are getting yourself into. Its like going into a Jackass movie with a highbrow attitude, you have no business being there.

But The Aristocrats, Dead Babies, Racial, Sexual and Blond jokes are all still okay? Right?
Sure, if you like absolutely banal and tasteless humor that has NO wit or spice.
Sometimes I do ;) Doesn't make me a bad person does it?
It doesn't make you a bad person but you are essentially supporting someone who didn't just make a rape joke but actually threatened someone with it. It's one thing to say, "This one girl I knew got raped" and another to essentially verbally attack someone especially when it's a very real threat.

What kills rape jokes for me is when I think what would the comedian or the person laughing at it think when they are victimized the same way.

-No

-Definitely No

I... don't see a yes in there.

OT: Anything is ripe for the use of comedy.

Even rape.

If you have a problem with his stuff, don't watch him. Complaining won't do anything because dark humor is his shtick. I don't think anyone can change that.

Rape jokes CAN be funny, in the same way that jumping from a 3 story window CAN be survived, it's definitly possible, but rarely worth it.

Well Daniel Tosh's main category of comedy is dark humor. Sometimes it delves into incredibly dark areas. Being offended at what he does is like being offended at Lisa Lampanelli for calling any man that looks even slightly effeminate a ******.

Its just what they do.
So because he uses 'dark humor' he's immune from critisism? Fuck how come no one told me comedy was that easy?

People are so easily offended these days it seems.

Humor is subjective, deal with it, or get raped to sleep by dickwolves every night.

This is so bullshit. Comedy (even bad one) is a form of art, and as such, nothing should ever be off limits, otherwise it goes stagnant.

Not rape, not the Holocaust, not anything. Getting up in arms about something like that only reveals your own bigotry.

The problem is more that the way he was saying it insinuated that rape itself is funny rather than rape jokes are funny. I hope that makes sense.

Overall the real problem is that this guy is a giant douche; I saw his show once and his "comedy" style is less "dark humor" and more "being an asshole".

That's hilarious, but i think it would be better for you to have a more constructive purpose to your life. Eh, then again what would the internet be without its swarms of white knights? (Probably far better off.)
Wouldn't it be funny if all those White Knights got gang raped?

I might check out his comedy routines now. The only thing I've ever known about this guy is his idiotic "America's stupidest Youtube Videos" show, which sucked.

How absurd rape as a concept is? Honestly, there is very little I personally find more fitting of the title absurd than rape. I don't really get how that has to suddenly change be due to personal circumstances.

Depends on the context, for example:

Me and my clan would rape you in a online match!

Me and my gang would rape you in the alley down the street!

How could he possibly think that would end well?! That's on par with telling her to her face that he just might<?b> kill her that same day!

She is no friend of his and was already angry to begin with so saying something like THAT sound more like a intentional dick move than an attempt to diffuse the situation.

Biased OP is Biased.

Everything is acceptable to joke about and rape is not even the "worst" subject. As long as you're not raping anyone, or telling others to rape other people, you can pretty much joke about what you like.
Biased OP is PROUD of his bias.

Fucking hell, there's a petition to get Tosh off the air, permanently. Courtesy of change.org

I am... displeased. I'd better be on the lookout. Might need to create an opposing petition if that thing reached 10,000.
make it. I'll sign it.

I never heard of a counter petition before could be fun.

EDIT: Oh man, I wish this controversy had sprung up against George Carlin, he would have not taken this shit lying down. And he did essentially the same thing. He literally told the audience to rape a guy in the face. Here.

The people who find rape funny in any way have never actually seen and/or experienced it.
It's very hard to make a cancer joke when your friend is dying of it in the hospital.
If you make it regardless then damn, you must not give a shit about anything. Good for you.
