Has anyone ever stopped to think about exactly HOW the world is supposed to end? One would think that the Mayans would have had at least made something up.
(Although, there are a number of things which could forseeably kill off a very large portion of humanity, the most obvious being a nuclear fallout or something of that sort.)

Exactly. It is just stupid people fussing over more idiocy. These same people also thought Y2K was the end of all computer systems too. As if. It is all so stupid. In 2013 the world will go on. And the same single minded morons will fuss over some new date as the suppose end of the world. These same like minded fools have been yammering about the supposed end of the world for CENTURIES.

Has anyone asked a Mayan what it means even, if their all dead why does everyone jump to the conclusion that they predicted the end of the world? Maybe the Mayans wanted to change the calander on that date? Maybe it where to be a big family event.

The Mayans are all dead, and no, if this source is accurate, then the date isn't neccesarily the predicted end of the world. However...

The belief is that the gods destroyed and re-created the world three times to create the world we live in now, which is nigh-on perfect. The date the last world ended will swing around again on December the 12th, 2012. So those wacky New Age folk have theorized that something big will happen on that day.

Anyways, I highly doubt anything will happen, but if there are some ominous signs that point to the end of the world, like an international conflict between superpowers, everyone will probably step down so the "prediction" won't happen.

The only good hoaxs are the ones which makes everyone go crazy and buy supplies from stores, lets say like the Y2K (except that was semi true, good thing microsoft let that 1 change to a 2). There were people buying hand held lights and batties from stores and stocking up candles because all the computers and power 'would' crash/cutout. Good for business.
