You can just download it for the PC anymore. Just google it, I found it that way.
Yeah but you can't get Vincent's final weapon in the computer version. Or are you running an emulator?
Really? Huh. Grab yourself a character editor, you should be able to give yourself the item (I assume it's still in the game code)

You can. Exactly the same way as you always get it. I distinctly remember doing so. It's also still just as broken as it is on the PS version (no upper limit on it's damage. Want to one hit kill Emerald Weapon?, Vincent's your man).

You can't, however, get it to run even mildly well on any hardware released anything more than a year or so after the game.

Also, the final battle theme, one of the most famous pieces of videogame music ever, got ganked for a shitty midi version.

The game is more than ten years old now.

WHY THE HELL CAN'T PEOPLE SHUT UP ABOUT IT!?

It wasn't even that good an FF. Better than 8 or 10 but that wasn't exactly hard.

I'm with Amnestic, a remake of FFIX would be very cool, currently my most re-played of the FF series. A remake of FFVII would be interesting, I'd probably get it after it had been out a while though.

(In reference to all the "You'll piss off the fanboys!" "FAnboys will still complain about it" "fanboys fanboys fanboys!")

Ermmm, could someone point me to them? I have honestly not met very many FFVII fans if any lately.

But, why not? It'll let a bunch of people that weren't in "ye olden times" to enjoy it, it'll shut up the "fanboys", and I'll be able to see what was so special about it. Will someone please think of the children!

Oh wait, but then we'll have the problem of "Well the 'fanboys' will still complain!". Who cares? If there was an FFVII remake I'd probably buy it without caring what all the "fanboys" are saying.

just remake it, rake in the cash, and let other people enjoy it. Forget about the fanboys and what they'll complain about, but don't change to much of the original anyway.

High five for enjoying FFVIX. I picked it partly because I enjoyed it and partly because it's the most difficult one (I've found) to acquire these days. All the games before FFVII to my knowledge have been remade for the DS, FFVII and FFVIII are out on PC and generally torrentable with relative ease. FFX, FFX-2, FFXII are all still readily available for the PS2 and FFXI is still widely available from most game stores. I haven't seen a copy of FFIX on shelves, even in second hand stores, in years. It's a PS1 game too which somewhat limits my ability to find and play it.

Anyone know if FFIX plays well on a PSP?

That and Metal Gear Solid - I still can't see why they haven't worked that out.
Twin Snakes not good enough for you, Indingo? ;o

On reflection, the thing I hate about the Final Fantasy series is that I can never get all those dang Roman Numerals straight. Here's another thing to let rest in peace: The Romans.

I think a PSP remake with crisis core graphics, and good voice acting would be an excellent remake. For all you saying you prefer it being on the DS...sorry it is NOT going to happen. FF7 is a Playstation title so it will obviously be on a playstation platform. As much as i would love to see a PS3 remake, I find the kingdom hearts/crisis core art style far more charming and appealing than the advent children visuals. I honestly don't see anything wrong with remaking it as long as they stay true to the original game and not tweak it to be something almost too different. Remaking it would shut fan boys up a bit, but like it has been stated, they may still complain. Remaking it on the PSP would make sense since crisis core is there and it would feel complete. This would also be a good way to let the series die out with some dignity with a nicely remastered version. It will let people who missed it the first time get to see what made this game so legendary, and they may come to appreciate this old classic too.

For as much bad that can come out of a remake, there is just as much good that can come out of it too. I know the compilation of FF7 is supposed to last like 10 to 15 years, what better way to end it with a remake? A patiently look forward to a GOOD remake if it ever does come, and I cross my fingers it's on the PSP :p

I can't find that either. Therein sorta lies the problem. With an online distributed form I get it cheap, and I get my own copy easy. Exact same thing with FFVII
Really? Tried buying online? Picked up my copy off Amazon a couple of months back for not terribly much. Still, I agree that having it bought off of *online console market of your choice* would be a better way to do it.

How about Square makes a new IP? The Last Remnant looks great; they don't need to rely on old games.

If it was a good remake, and if it was released for the 360 or the DS. I've never, EVER owned a Playstation or variant thereof, and I intend to keep it that way...I was picked on because I had an N64 instead of a Playstation and there are some grudges I refuse to let go.

Also, college is sucking up all my spare cash, so I'm definitely not spending money on a PS3 or a PSP when I have a DS and a 360.

I also don't trust buying secondhand games online. I'll happily work with the two elements individually, but in both cases I have some form of guarantee of playable quality.
That makes sense I guess. The one I got off Amazon was new, or I assume it was with the plastic wrapper still around the game box, but I get where you're coming from.
