Im sorry, I was just wondering what sort of people frequest the escapist.
And how he got voted in twice.
So what do you think? (Please Explain WHY)

EDIT: Please be aware that if you say Bush was always right, you are wildly outnumbered. I won't be surprised if you get flamed.

EDIT: Im somewhat surprised by the initial resuls only 3/74 said he did a good job. I though at least 10-20% would have.

EDIT: Added an OK option to the poll, sorry about that, I just assumed most would have a strong-ish opinion.

Bush was freaking awesome. I miss him, the man was comedy gold. In terms of policy and crap i didnt really notice that much that was different to life under the clinton administration

I'm torn. While I don't think he did a good job, per se, he could have been a hell of a lot worse, and for that I at least manafe to find some repentance.

I have to agree with the 'Comedy Gold' idea.
But he always came across as a complete moron to me.

Not really, he was pretty dumb and all but he wasn't bad or evil.

Now his crew on the other hand....

He was awful to the point of shameful humor, and his policies will haunt people two generations down the road. He only got elected twice because Bush ran on destroying gay marriage in 2004 and the Democrats somehow couldn't do better than John Kerry muttering about civil unions.

No he did not. He was kind of lame, and even without 9/11 and ensuing War on Terror his reign would still be lame.

Poor guy was just too silly to be the president. Not malicious or anything, just silly and misguided.

I've got the CD.

OT, at first he didn't do a bad job, but by the end he was doing far from a good job.

This might as well be a political version of a 'Versus' thread.
He really was the Great Uniter...as he united people onto one side of the fence or the other.
It might be more fun to ask if President Lex Luthor did a good job...unless you enjoy internet 'screaming' matches (CAPSLOCKOMBAT?).

He got voted in a second time because nobody wanted a new guy in office. It's why presidents almost always get re-elected after their first term. As to the topic, did he do a good job? Hmm, let's explore that....

thousands dead in a useless war

economy lower than it's been in decades

the rest of the world now thinks less of America than ever

Yep, he did a great job.

I was going to post just the word "no" but I've already been in trouble for short, over-simplified posts, so....

Let's see.

He put you into two big wars with minimal planning.
Presided over the largest economic slump in history.
Presided over the response to Hurricane Katrina, lack there of.
He is responsible for socialising the US mortgauge Banks.
He is responsible for socialising US heavy industry.

Despite his billing as a Republican, Bush did more for Socialism in the US that Obama intends to do in his entire manifesto. He was so awful it's not even funny. Sep 11th wasn't his fault, but the knee jerk response and the mess it's left us all in very much is, nevermind what's gone on in Iraq.

To understand what the world thinks of Bush when he was re-elected several UK paper's head line page had only one thing on it. It was a picture of thirty or so coffins draped in the US flag.

No text, date or anything else, just the name of the paper, the picture and the headline "Four more years,"

Pretty much my opinion. I notice no-one has awnsered 'Yes' to the poll for a reason.

The questions "Did you vote for him" and "Did he do a good job" are two separate issues. The first election was incredibly close. As for the second one, America has never replaced a wartime president. We were at war, and his worst f&*kups had yet to occur in 2004. Thus, he was voted back in due to the war, and disaster ensued.

Ha. You know, I didn't actually vote, maybe I'll vote "yes" just to make it different.

Nah.

No.

/thread

(I'm also amazed has to how he got elected 2 fucking times)
Sorry, but you can't /thread when the thread is based on opinions rather then historical fact.

OT: He wasn't the best president, but he did ok. Also, he didn't choose everything that happened to the country, that is why he has advisors.

Ok, pretty much all the bad stuff I was going to mention has already been written, so I'll just ask a question for the (currently two) people here that liked him: Why? Mention one good thing about him, please. (Aside from entertainment value...)
