One of my favorite games, easily. The DLC is pretty good to if you don't get screwed over by the game breaking bug they haven't fixed yet that came with the Lair of the Shadow Broker(LotSB) DLC.

It was alright, they have shown me that I'll haveto start renting Bioware games rather then buying, but hey going casual they appeal to about 90% of gamers so why not cash in on that.

At first I was convinced they will have Mass Effect as the money catcher, so they can then spend time on bigger things like DA, but it seems they drank a bit toomuch of EA koolade and now they aim everything at a casual yearly stamp out.

It got rid of that stupid inventory system and using the Paragon/Renegade actions could make dialogue go from boring to "Did I just do that? SWEET!"

I liked it. I doubt if your going to much opinion the other way. For all the whining ME2 is generally held as a good game and enjoyed by many people.

I love it, but stopped playing it for a bit longer than I would have liked.
I play it en-mass (No pun intended) when I do, but otherwise its a bit hard to get into the mindset to fully enjoy it.
Im just waiting to get my Console fixed so I can play it :/

No, it was one of the few games I quit out of sheer boredom.

The combat was completely unimpressive. A lot of shooters nowadays are linear battles in hallways with chest-high walls, but those at least try to make it interesting with lots of explosions or face-paced combat or backgrounds.

The exploration was horrid. The entire game consisted of corridors. Even in areas out in the open. There were always conveniently placed cliffs. I don't know how this game got away with it but FF13 gets blasted for it. Both suffered from a lot of the same faults, really.

The world bored me. It was detailed and original, but it had no spark of passion to it. So much of it relied upon telling me, not showing. It was the difference between reading about elephants and seeing elephants for yourself. There was no experience. One of the times where the game really did do it right that I can remember was the Newton conversation you hear between some marines. A lot of the rest of the stuff was just read the codex or sit through conversations as you go down a check list of questions like you're giving them an interview for a job. Also, I find putting stereotypical everything but in SPACE is quaint. Aria was probably the best though. SPACE gangster running a SPACE club where you drink ambiguously alcoholic SPACE beverages. I was surprised when she used a real word for swearing instead of some silly SPACE word.

Planet scanning, a real loss in customization of your weapons and armor, and waifus. Lol, no thanks.

I very much enjoyed the game, but there are some tendencies that I didn't like which seem to have carried over to Dragon Age 2. Take the dialog system for example. It's simplified to the point where it just straight up tells you: "This option makes you bad, that one makes you good, that one over there makes you a smug prick". Having a system with absolutely clear cut moral choices is something I disagree with in general, but the simplified dialog wheel makes it even worse.

When I play an RPG I like to think about how different choices reflect on my character. That's (one of) the point(s) of an RPG I think. As people have already noted Mass Effect 2 isn't really much of an RPG to begin with though. Oh well...

I loved it. I actually have not met anyone who did not like it, but I know they are out there.

The planet scanning and upgrade systems were extremely stupid, but other than that I thought it was an incredible game.

Mass Effect 2 is one of the great games of the past decade. The combat is fast, exciting and engaging. The characters were (by-and-large) believable and the dialogue was very natural and well-acted by videogame standards - both were miles ahead of Dragon Age in my view. The plot didn't have the same wow-factor and open-ended feel of the original, but I found it pressed my emotional buttons more effectively and one of my constant frustrations with modern RPGs is a lack of focus on the main plot.

Having said all that, I can see why a certain type of gamer would be disappointed with the direction they went in with ME2. Linearity grates on some people, particularly RPG fans, who want freedom to explore. My own opinion is that this is what Bethesda games are all about and Bioware tried their hand in the original Mass Effect - I found Oblivion and the exploration sections in ME tedious and detracted from the main story. I preferred the smaller-scale, more "rail-like" experience of ME2's sidequests.

Personally, I would have preferred a more complex and optimisable character-levelling mechanic, but that's a small complaint. Perhaps it just needs to be made clearer that Mass Effect is very much on the action end of the RPG spectrum. It's big on story, big on character, big on action, but not big on roleplaying.

I liked it for the fact that inventory didn't suck, there were just a few weapons to manage, sniping didn't suck, and it didn't have massive engine problems. It also seemed longer than Mass Effect 1, taking me longer to get near completion. What I didn't like was the removal of vehicles except for some DLC, and the game just turned into a bunch of chest high walls, albeit a very enjoyable series of chest high walls, with Tali and Garrus, the only squad members iI used in the original mass Effect.

I love ME2. A fresh game, with solid story, combat, graphics (going by the PS3 version), voice acting, characters. I like far more than Dragon Age, I must say, mostly because every character in DA was completely unlikeable (with the possible exception of Zevran). I really don't feel like getting DA2 any time soon. Maybe I'll give it a shot when it's in the bargain bin.

Yeah...no. Not at all. Not even a little bit. It shat all over itself and what was shaping up to be a grade-A franchise. It's so awful that I swore off Bioware games after playing it. It makes me angry just thinking of it.

I've been seeing a lot of people saying how terrible it was lately. Honestly, I completely disagree with every point any of them have made. I thought it was a great game, one of my favourites for sure. I loved the combat, the characters were fantastic, the story was interesting enough to keep me wanting to know what was going to happen next. I loved it, and I'm hoping ME 3 is at least as good.
