Poll: Did you sign up for Planetside War?

Um.. I don't think my computer is up to the task though.

Planetside can be a bit of a resource hog. With any recent PC, a gig of ram and a decent video card and you'll be fine. The game is 5 years old. Plus a couple of tweaks to turn off the unnecessary stuff. Makes the game a bit less pretty, but it plays better and that's what its about. If top notch eye-candy is mandatory, planetside will disappoint. The visual beauty comes from seeing 50 people attacking a base with another 50 people, all using different weapons and vehicles in a massive collage of chaos.

I've never heard of it before, so i've just started looking into it. It looks quite fun actually.
I just had my computer updated a couple of months ago so handling the software will be easy, so i might try signing up.

I played Planetside before but stopped. If I can get back into it for this I think it would be awesome to play for the Escapist.

Planetside has a 14 day free trial, so even if you don't get in with the Escapist, you can still play. Your stats won't count in the "war", but you can contribute and hopefully have fun.

Planetside today doesn't have some of the huge attacks shown in that clip, but it is nice to dream

Although it's really hard to play it now - very little people to kill...

I was just on Gemini today and can say thats definitely not the case. Hundreds of dudes getting blown to crap, tanks all over the place and flak filling the air like murderous clouds...

look for all those people freting about planetside it has all the mmo traits but in a truly fps manner if you watch a youtube video people go down about as fast as they do in wow.

the "level" system is best compared to COD 4, lvl 5's can take down lvl 50's based on skill allone, you'll just find in planetside it will take a little longer to die much like halo "1"

I remember awhile ago a lot of people said you couldn't play ps with vista? Is this still the case? I'm trying to install it again and it gets to _aunchPad.exe in the receiving files screen and it just freeze and eventually just closes itself.

Yeah, Vista seems to be giving EVERYONE a problem because of the DirectX feature. I'm talking with SOE and our techs to see if there is a way around it

Yeah, Vista seems to be giving EVERYONE a problem because of the DirectX feature. I'm talking with SOE and our techs to see if there is a way around it

You might want to ask if they sorted multi cores to. It use to be you had to turn off second/four core processing, as it made you run around too fast in the game.
