I'll get both eventually, but when I saw that they both unlocked at the same time I said "Ooooh, bad luck Dishonored."

Hypothetically, Xcom could only have lost to the Baldur's Gate EE where I'm concerned.

I don't know too much about Xcom, but is does look like a fun hardcore tactical game, might pick it up when it's cheaper. For now, however, I can't wait to get my hands on Dishonored.

I find your poll woefully lacking in the "both" department.
I am getting both. This is about which one to get first (my funds are somewhat thinly-spread right now).

XCOM

1) It's a kind of game I like, and wish there were more of.
2) The people who make it seem to genuinely enjoy it and want others to as well
3) As a PS3 owner I have zero faith that dishonored won't be a horrid, buggy, unsupported POS port from my good friends at bethesda.
A lot of people seem to be making this mistake. Dishonored aint being made by bethesda, only published.
Which is a tad sad. Because while I like bethesda and all, this isn't the sort of game they have madea lot of. But arkane studios on the otherhand: arx fatalis and dark messiah....very similar in some ways.

OT probably Dishonored, but soooo hard to choose.

That was of the greatest sync kills I have ever seen.

I honestly don't know which one to recommend, I'm getting both myself.

Dishonored is definitley the most fluid game they have made yet :) Arx was cool, but really REALLY clunky.

At least, I will be getting both on launch day. Both look excellent and I actually can afford it, so why the hell not? :D
^^

But I am probably going to finish Dishonored first...

But if X-Com is as short as I fear...

From the one review I have read, one playthrough of X-com clocks in at about 20 hours. I dunno about you, but that sounds like a good amount of time to me. :p

I'd like both, but wallet only allows for one >_< So I went with Xcom, knew about it earlier and liked what little the demo allowed me to play. I'm sure it will expand on that.

One complaint I see about the demo a lot is how hand holding it was, well they want to show it to a larger demographic to at least let them into it. I've seen actual gameplay and I'm pleased with what I have seen. Odds are, if you knew of the game before the demo, you already knew if you were going to get it or not.

I say go with XCOM.

First person platforming and stealth in the same game? Haha, NO. First person is only good for shooters and adventure games that involve little to no platforming. That is it.

And I think there is a mode that just keeps going until you lose, kinda like a survival one too. So that could be even longer.

X-COM ... I find Bethesda games to lack character depth when it comes to an RPG but that's just me. Strategy games I find tend to have more play and re-play value I find.

I feel so bad for Arkane Studios, 2 days until release and people still don't know Bethesda only published the game

They both look like great games, XCOM seems to be a more know factor. However I feel like dishonerd is going to be a far more topical game, because of this you will be able to participate in more interesting discussion if you get it but their is a very good chance its just not as good a game.

First person platforming and stealth can be done right. See: Mirror's Edge and Thief.

I've played both of those games, and I disagree with you that they were done well. Actually, those two games were the ones that put me off both of those subgenres altogether. (Well, not entirely true. Half-Life is the game that made me despise FPP, but Mirror's Edge brought that nightmare back to haunt me)

Oh well, let's just say that I disagree with you. Mirror's Edge made me fall in love with the idea and feeling of first person platforming and no game have come close ever since. I'm actually surprised that you were put off by thief since that game had an excellent implementation of stealth in the first-person(thanks to the light/dark meter).
