I never really played Smash Bros that much so when it came to my first time playing it my girlfriend (who absolutely loves the game and used to play it lots) completely and utterly wiped the floor with me (it's alright though, she needed me to complete Goldeneye for her so I can still safely say I'm better at shooters).
But back to the topic at hand, yes, girls do like Smash Bros just as much as guys (given it's bright, colourful look, laid back and casual mood and simple gameplay I can't really imagine why it would exclude anyone).

I have a friend who like SSB, her and my other friend who owns the game are far too good to be playing with me...

Lets see...since I've taken part in Smash Brothers tournaments where 80% of those involved were female...you are in fact wrong.

Are you asking if we are socially permitted to like video games like Smash Brothers, or something? I mean, we're generally discouraged from more bellicose behavior from a young age, but I don't think that sexual dimorphism in humanity is enough to warrant labeling things as distinctly male or female.

I have always been a bit meh about fighting games... I enjoyed the Tekken series and Street Fighter but I've never really been that into them. I was good at Chun Li in Street Fighter 2 and I could do all of Nina's combo's in Tekken 3. I don't think I could beat anyone who was serious business though.
I find this thread a little strange... surely a more pertinent question would just be to ask if people like Smash Bros or not.

My sister who's almost eight likes the game and has since she was about three or four, she adores Pikachu and Kirby especially, and so does our cousin (who's nine) so out of a sample size of two girls, that's 100%!
Girl. I think it's okay. As much as I enjoyed it on Game Cube, I've been a bit disappointed with the newest version, but as the Wii goes that's pretty much standard.
