A lot of it has to do with the "who" rather then the "what". Passion plays a big role in it, one girl may make kissing feel like one of the best things ever, and another may make it almost a chore. Experience and talent also have a hand, but I think thats actually a secondary sometimes.

Last I heard, it depends on the person and their kissing skill. Only times I don't like kissing my girlfriend is when she's had alcohol and I haven't. Then it just tastes disgusting. Also, right after she smokes. Tastes like an ashtray smells. Other than that, I love kissing.

Well, I enjoy it. I assume my girlfriend does too, since she's complimented me on it many a time, but that could just be general 'lies everyone tells in a relationship' stuff (although she usually follows this with a 'I'd never expected you to be any good, it was surprising,' which is certainly one way to deliver a backhanded compliment).

The last time I kissed a girl on the lips was when I was in Year 7, and while I was pretty much indifferent towards it, my girlfriend kind of cringed when it happened. But maybe that?s just because I was a crappy kisser, and/or we were both frigid 12-year-olds. Besides, is there any ?right way? to kiss someone?

I don?t know how anyone can really enjoy giving handjobs or blowjobs, though; they don?t look very appealing and you?re not receiving any pleasure, are you? Unless semen tastes so good. Mine doesn?t (yes, I?ve tasted my own semen; I was morbidly curious, but it was bland).

so I guess there's some sort of biological feel-good factor for it?
There is. I think it releases dopamine, like seemingly every other fucking activity these days. Could be another chemical.

In any case a kiss can give you a mini natural high. Yay!
Wikipedia [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kissing#Biology_and_evolution] makes anything gross, apparently it may have originated as a mechanism for regurgitating food and therefore sharing it...but yeah, looks like you're right on the dopamine. It also releases adrenaline, which accounts for the excitement.[/quote]Actually, I heard it was a natural Innoculation against certain diseases. If the male had a specific disease (forgot which one, but it doesn't affect humans older then 2 with visible side effects) that could kill the infant before birth (if the relationship took it's time getting to 3rd base) kissing over that time would build up resistance to the disease in the woman to the point the infant wouldn't miscarry as easily.

In other words, kissing may have evolved as a shot.

Most girls I have dated and such have been huge make-out fans for some reason. My current girlfriend prefers simple kisses though :D

Recently I've gotten into a discussion with a female friend about kissing. She says that neither her nor any female she's known has actually liked kissing, and says they only do it because guys like it. This has lead me to wonder if any girls at all like kissing, or if this is just a unique case.

For a discussion:
Have you seen the phenomenon of large amounts of people not liking kissing before, what types of people were they, and do you know why they might not have liked it?

My friend and the people she knew are all teenagers, so it might have something to do with maturity and experience or they could just be of the opinion that it just isn't appealing.

I, of course, happen to like kissing. That's why I'm having a hard time understanding why such a large group of people wouldn't like it.

Edit: It seems the general consensus is, the simplest answer, that they don't like kissing because everyone they kiss isn't too good or experienced at it because of their age. It seems Occam's Razor has stuck again. I'd like to thank everyone for helping me figure this out.
can I add to your edit : because there was no connection.

Because kissing usually is the point where you feel there's a real connection between you and the interested party

Teenagers hate everything and want to have sex with anything that moves at the same time. They're a strange breed.
Oh yeah, the teenage years, how long ago was it since you were one now again? *looks at profile* one year.

Yeah, if it's only one year ago since you were one, I really don't think you're qualified to talk like that. It's a bit silly how you try to distance yourself from them.

Or you could just have laughed at the joke and not taken it seriously like everyone else. Whichever.

Female (24) here: Usually when I kiss someone it means we've made enough of some kind of connection for me to feel comfortable. Even though I've had my share of bad kissers, I quite enjoy kissing and I always have. There is just something about a good kissing session. When the two kissing partners are in synch, it's quite lovely. Makes you all warm and euphoric.

I really like kissing. Male.

If I can be completely honest, I enjoy kissing better than sex.

Yes, I am serious.

Maybe they just kissed someone who kisses like a washing machine ??
I have encountered such an event. It's... Not pleasant. That being said, still semi-enjoyable.

I've kissed 2 or 3 girls before, none of which I've had particularly strong feelings for, and none of them were my girlfriend, but I still enjoyed it.

I'm not really sure why anyone wouldn't, if you find them physically attractive and they don't have gross bad breath, I don't even think there needs to be any feelings involved.

I'm sure that a lot of people appreciate a little human contact every once in a while, be it a handshake, hugs, kissing, etc. I guess the degree to how intimately you wish to express human contact is based solely on the individuals and how comfortable they are with one another.

I haven't had much practice, I've been told that I'm alright but no, I don't like it. In fact I don't like that entire side of human interaction, I'm incredibly awkward.

I have never been a fan of kissing personally. It has never really done much for me. I still do it to show affection I just in generally avoid making out. I tend to use hugs and kiss the neck instead.
