Right now I am reading DMZ, Scalped and the Transmetropolitan books as they are reprinted, I occasionally also check out Fables. The two other Vertigo series that I have finished reading but still deserve honorable mention are Y the Last Man and Preacher.
I also read a lot of non-serialized comics published by more traditional book publishers. Ghost World, Fun Home, Safe Aria Gorazde, Black Hole and Short Comings are just a hand full of the examples of the non-serialized comics I have really enjoyed.
There's also a plethora of free web-comics I read almost religiously.
If your interested in getting into comics, super hero or otherwise, Atop the 4th Wall probably isn't the best place to start. I don't find Linkara an especially engaging comic reviewer, and I hate how he actually reads the comic to you... and tries to make character appropriate voices no less. The whole thing makes me feel strangely uncomfortable.
If any one here is interested in getting into comics and doesn't know where to start, send me a PM of what kind of literature or movies you enjoy and I can throw together a recommended reading list. There are comics out there for just about every genre and interest, from Westerns, to Horror, to Romance and even non-fiction historical or political comics.
