Absolutely, he has an influence. In that when he rags on a game, it tends to drop in price used over the next few weeks more-so than others of its ilk, so I can buy the game at a cheaper price. Well, that, and thanks to him, I bought Saint's Row 2 and adored it. Beyond that, I treat him like a comedian who has some good points amidst his jokes, like any good topical comic should. He hates JRPGs, I love them, so I look amidst what he says for what I personally like to see if it has those factors, all while laughing at his crudely crafted characters doing silly things. Yay for critical thinking and an enjoyment of caustic humor.

not on games whose primary feature use multi-player (like battlefield bad company 2)

Depends on the genre of game. Action, survival horror, fps I usually agree with his criticisms. Anything with any RPG elements, not so much. He's not the only opinion I listen to but I don't disregard his opinions out of hand.

Yeah mostly the games he likes I like, and the games he doesnt like I generally dislike. So I do see if he has a review on it but I dont generally buy games unless I know they are really good.

I would certainly label him an insult comic more than a reviewer, but I take his reviews into account for 4 reasons (games)
He PERFECTLY articulated my muddled, but dissatisfied, feelings over Halo 3, Modern Warfare 2, GTA 4
And his review turned me on to the best game for the money I've ever bought: Saints Row 2
Long before I discovered ZP I was apparently a kindred soul with Yahtzee. I HATE online multiplayer matches (I play only Single Player campaigns), I am terribly bothered by lazy writing and character problems within games, and I loathe unimaginative genre knock-offs

He's hilarious, but I rarely watch him for a serious opinion. As he tends to nitpick on small stuff that doesn't seem to bother me, and the fact that he thinks Saint's Row 2 is better than GTA IV, I just watch him for laughs.
He does however make lots of good points nonetheless.

It may happen from time to time that he gets me to play games I had previously written of as undesirable but I generally trust my self to judge a game by just looking at the box. And if I am unconvinced I know heaps of peeps that have undoubtedly played it already. Besides he is not really into the same genres as I.

But fusk he is entertaining as shæt.

Nah, he's funny but not a reviewer. He makes some good points but I'd never base buying decisions on what he says. Take Alan Wake for example: I'd be mortified if I had missed out on playing that game. It's not the best game this year, or even in the last month, but it is a great gaming experience and I am very glad I bought it.

I said no, but in the end i think twice about games he reviews... mostly because of the points he make. It have made me become more careful when picking games.

I love Yahtzee's schtick. I think he's a really funny person who applied his humor to what he loved most (gaming). And like Penny Arcade, the AVGN, and a few others before him, his gags were original enough to earn him notoriety among the net-nerd set.

But to take his bile ridden rants as anything more than entertainment is almost a sin. He's a funny net-celeb with a gimmick that doesn't seem to get too tiresome (to me anyway, if you are tired of it I wouldn't call you out on it). And that's really enough. No way would I avoid playing a game based solely on a Yahtzee rant. Not never... No never.

I will admit to being a little elated when he actually praised Saint's Row 2 as "better than GTA4" though. It was nice to hear someone other than me say it.

I don't take any review into consideration when buying a game. What I mean is I take the objective facts about the game not whether or not someone liked it or hated it.
Yahtzee specifically mostly bashes games, so I watch it solely for its comedic value. As the man said he's a critic (I suspect he meant criticizer, as in he criticizes games) not a reviewer.
I've been meaning to say this for a while now because it bugs me. He's not a critic, a critic is someone who uses analysis to interprate something. That doesn't mean he solely points out every flaw of a game and casually mentions the good parts like they don't matter. He's far closer to an angry reviewer than a critic.

Roger Ebert is a critic. He uses analysis of various scenes and themes in movies to come to the conclusion of a movies strengths and weaknessess, something which Yahtzee does not do, and if he does it's very blunt.
Not certain if you are agreeing or disagreeing with me. In any case the dictionary meaning of critic is a reviewer. He's not that, he does criticize games though so I guess criticizer is best fitting term ... or critic(izer) for short.

Well, he sometimes reviews games I never heard of, so he's at least a gateway to my choices.

Generally, just because he hates a game, it doesn't mean I hate it too. But, if a game is actually capable of meeting his lofty standards, it must be good, so I usually check it out.

I bought Saint's Row 2 just for this reason, and I loved it.

Though I agree with Yahtzee the majority of the time I still end up buying whatever looks interesting or jives with the type of gaming I enjoy.

Great humorist and spot on for many of his reviews, but his influence on my buying preference is probably around 3-7%.

I generally don't take any review seriously because my opinion differs from reviewers so often, but I especially don't take Yahtzee seriously. He once praised Psychonauts in a review and in his next review he mentioned he won't be praising games he likes anymore because people don't think it's funny enough, so that's reason enough not to trust him.

I watch ZP for the comedy and because I find his voice incredibly sexy. That is all.

If he says a game is good i may take a peak at it. But other than that he doesn't take reviewing as a part of the series. I think he talks more about trends that happen in games like quick time events, the macho brown haired rugged protagonist, and sex references. But if he does not like it i don't take his opinion seriously.
