Well the thing you're faith is based on is the Bible. The bible states that God only created humans and angels, nothing else.
Yeah, funny thing about that Bible... No where in it's contents does it explicitly state nor hint at the idea that we are the only life in the entire universe. It follows the creation of it, but then it exclusively focuses on Earth. God creates humanity and life on our planet, but it does not state if he does or doesn't on others. For all we know, we could find a race of underground ice worms on one of Jupiter moons.

Now, I'm not exactly religious anymore, but I know enough about it to spot a fallacy when I see one. The Bible doesn't state that other life isn't possible and that we are alone. The people who read the book do. I -do- believe in the idea that out of the millions of trillions of galaxies out there, there must be some sort of life in the universe that is not of our own.

Do you need to see a billion dollars to believe it exists?
Depends what kind of billion dollars you're talking about.

If you're talking about the abstract concept of a billion dollars, then no.

If you're talking about a specific grouping of a billion dollars, for instance if you claimed to possess a billion dollars, then yes, some evidence for that billion dollars would be required.

Which is largely the same as my opinion about alien life. I can conceptually accept that it may well exist in the universe, but I would need compelling evidence to support any individual specific alien life.
I was more referring to the concept of a billion dollars existense. One may not have seen it, but I'm pretty damn sure it exists.

Somewhere, in some distant galaxy, an alien is asking his peers the exact same question.

I believe in aliens. The universe is simply too big to consider humanity as the only intelligent species inhabiting it.
Earth-like planets (read: planets capable of supporting life and water) are not even a rarity.

What I do not believe is that aliens visited Earth. They must be simply too far away.

"Do you believe in humans?"
"What the hell are you talking about, dude?"

I think that we are not alone, the chances of no other life existing are astranomically small, but to think that they have visited is ridiculous

Scientifically(Theoretically), there are an infinite number of galaxies, with an infinite number of systems and life-sustaining worlds. There-fore, there is an increasing chance that there are life-forms out there. all you have to do is look at the bacteria they found on mars. we don't know what the aliens will look like, so we don't know what to look for.
sorry, I got carried away

I love that there are separate choices for logical reasons and religious reasons.

Anyway yes, as vast as the universe is there's bound to be life somewhere. It might even be in our own solar system according to some theories about one of Jupiter's moons (Either Europa or Titan is believed to have undersea sulfur vents that could support life).

Video somewhat related, it puts the significance of our planet relative to the universe around us in perspective: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2pfwY2TNehw

I believe life exists out there somewhere in the vast universe. I'm not sure if this life has ever seen Earth.

My brother thinks aliens have come here. However he always reminds me that he is not some nut job that believes people that say they have been abducted.

I like to believe that we're not alone out there, but I also believe that they haven't found/visited us yet.

It's just kind of fun to believe in things like aliens and Bigfoot, 'cause we're always looking for answers to those "what if" and "could be" questions, and they fit so well.

yup, thinking there is no possibility of there being aliens is moronic, out of all the possibly infinite stars, planets and Galaxies, we're the only one that can sustain life?

ridiculous.

It's impossible that in a Universe this big life wouldn't exist anywhere else. So yes, indeed I do believe that Aliens exist, tho they might has well be in a state similar to what we were in the "medieval ages".

1st of all tho, I don't believe aliens ever visited Earth. It would take long LONG years to actually reach earth. Then again, wormholes might be usable to do this?

So apparently there's no way someone can believe in God without believing everything in the Bible ?

I think it's highly probable that there are other life forms somewhere in the universe, but I doubt we'll ever meet them and doubt even more that they would already be here watching us and flying about in coincidentally dinner plate shaped aircraft.

If aliens had found earth and knew about humans, my guess is that they would have destroyed the planet with their "super mega death ray" then and there to avoid any inevitable conflict with us in the future, and that's if by a miraculous turn of events we don't end up nuking each other to oblivion before even being able to leave our own solar system.

From a scientific standing, I can't imagine us humans being the only intelligent life in the universe. Even if you look at it with a religious standing, why couldnt god have done somewhere else what he has done here? (creating the world in 6 days)

It would be pretty amazing if there was another planet like ours, with near-perfect conditions that allow us to live. If there is life out there, I would imagine most of it to be bacteria or possibly smaller organisms that could survive on the planet.

Haven't they already found bacteria on Mars?

Your opinion. It's wrong, but it's your opinion. It still doesn't change the fact that it is a valid argument and that you didn't bother to answer the question.

*EDIT*

Not saying that as a shot, just saying you didn't answer the question. :)
Lol, I love the edit there. Alright, the reason I considered it weak is the concept of a billion dollars is a much more tangible concept than life existing on other planets, especially when one considers how much we're exposed to the term in everyday media (ie the budget has a surplus of 20 billion dollars, billions has been wiped off the stock exchange due to the global financial crisis etc).

The idea of a billion dollars in same bill form isn't that plausible, as the amount of $100 notes (Australia's highest note value) it takes to make 1 billion means that you're very unlikely to ever see it expressed in legal tender, but the idea of say a billion dollars being present on the governments books or something like that? Yup, I don't need to see that to believe it.

They're too very seperate arguments, a billion dollars to aliens existing. A better argument on your behalf would have been something like... do you need to see a worm hole (in space) to know it exists? Because scientists aren't it agreement as to whether these are tangible concepts just yet but probability says they are, much like the brunt of the idea surrounding aliens on this thread.

Yes, I do. I always believed in them a little bit, but after the freaky stuff I saw in the sky not too long ago I'm a pretty firm believer that there is something out there.

Here's my account of it (It is long and I hate re-typing things, so I've copy & pasted it from the last time I mentioned it):

Now I've always been pretty sceptical about the super-natural, but last night just after going hunting with my dad and a few freinds, while me, my dad, and friend were waiting for the other 2 to gte out of the woods and back to the car we started seeing some very weird lights traveling through the air high above the feild we were on the edge of. At first there was just one, way off in the distance, but within a minute it zig-zaged its way to just the end of the feild(the other end) that we were on and made its way starting and stoping in a very large circle around the general area. at the same time it would disapear and reapear at different times even though it was to bright to be blocked bye the clouds.
There was also 2 more although they didn't interact. One was just up in the sky(I couldn't tell how far it was or if it was moving) but it was brighter then any star or plane that I've ever seen and disapeared occationaly when I wasn't looking.
The last one was only visable for a few minutes. it was hight up, simply apeared, and moved in a straight line across the sky like it was riding on cables hundreds of feet in the air. I had 5 lights, one slowly fading in and out(it was generaly facing our side of the field), and had 4 more that vere just bright on the side of it like bright windows or something. It was also shaped like a cigar, but one of the weirdest things was that none of them gave off any noise at all(it was very quiet since we were far from town).
