I think there are aliens for the same reason some people have religon. It would be kind of depressing to think that we are the only ones in this vast universe.

and about the aliens on earth thing. whose to say we're not more advanced then they are. aliens are always depicted as superier beings but they could be exacly like us.

I believe non-Earth life does exist. Whether or not its advanced beyond the single cell stage is another question to me. Whether or not other 'intelligences' as we narrowly define them exist, is unknown.

Really, I think SETI is doomed to fail as Aliens, by definition, are alien. We have no way of even being to understand a non-Earth intelligence - hell, we find dolphin and chimp intelligence odd and alien, and where all Earth based. Of course, its not our fault we can't understand aliens if they do exist in intelligent forms - we've only got a sample size of 1 to compare too.

That extraterrestrial life which may exist, I think we will find, would be seeded by or from Earth by one means or another.

Yes, and I think they helped us do what was impossible in the past like build some of the things we did even though we still cannot explain how they did so without more modern technology. Currently they do not interact with us or do so very sparingly.

I also believe religious figures from many religions (such as Jesus Christ, I believe the Incas had two people come down from the sky and land in lake Titicaca, etc. who came from the sky) were actually extraterrestrials who came down and we had no way to explain who they were and what they did, so the stories were past down in the way we here them now. This would also imply that they are human since there are no stories of weird looking aliens coming down. Perhaps humans are not originally from this planet and they left some of us down here for some reason or another and they continue to check up on us and study us.

I don't think I'd believe in it had I not seen a UFO before in broad daylight come out from the ocean with my friends there who saw the exact same thing. Needless to say we had no idea wth was going on and get the heck out of the beach with anyone else who was there and happened to see it.

Only when I've been shown proof will I believe. Until then I'm quite happy thinking we're the only planet with life on it.
Belief isn't about proof. You wouldn't believe something after being shown proof, you'd know it.

Belief is about taking one side in something unknown.

On topic, I believe there must be something out there, but it's unlikely they'd've visited Earth.

Your all going say I am nuts or just skip this little reply.

There is a cold war going on between 2 spices one is know as the Grays ( you can guess what they look like.)Second one is has a name but its fucking unpronounceable or able to type with out enlisting the help of several letters that are not in this language. So for spicily we call them Reptilians.(You know what they look like buy the name now.) Now the Grays want to use humans like cattle in order to fix the genetic damage they did to there self's due to over the top cloning. Don't ask me how or why they can't make there own gens. Thing is they need ours. The Repts, well to be speaking the truth I have no idea what they are up to. They might want to colonize on earth I believe they don't want to wipe out human life. There not as aggressive as one would think.

You ask how I know this. I have run ins with both and a few others. Buy the way Earth is rather out of the way. Think of earth like a national park.

It's not really a matter of believing or not believing. They're logically possible but I've seen no evidence that they exist, so it's "possibly" from me.

Right here is my view:
I couldn't care less.
If Aliens did exist and we did discover them, the language would be different. The forms of contact might be different.
Even if we did get a message to them they would probably be dead by the time it reached them. And if not the returned message would not be recieved by us because we would be dead.
And we definately would not be able to reach them and vice-versa.

They probably do exist.
But what is the point of knowing they are there?

I say yes. Unfortunately they would register us as a threat and assymilate us all using their alien death rays and telochenesis.

While I'm sure that SOMETHING must be out there, I highly doubt it's found us yet. Has anyone else noticed all the "real" photos are very blurry and often show signs of photoshop?

Until I see hard evidence, I will not believe that there are aliens. However, I am far closer to believing they exist than believing they don't exist, as the universe is ridiculously large and certainly we're not the only ones living in it.

So the words I choose were slightly out of context, fair enough.

It's impossible that in a Universe this big life wouldn't exist anywhere else. So yes, indeed I do believe that Aliens exist, tho they might has well be in a state similar to what we were in the "medieval ages".

1st of all tho, I don't believe aliens ever visited Earth. It would take long LONG years to actually reach earth. Then again, wormholes might be usable to do this?

Im a Christian and I believe in Intelligent Design, and also that there are other forms of life in this universe. Why would God only create one race of being for the ENTIRE universe? why would he do that? for an omnipotent and omnipresent being, that would get kinda boring, I think.
Well the thing you're faith is based on is the Bible. The bible states that God only created humans and angels, nothing else.
So apparently there's no way someone can believe in God without believing everything in the Bible ?
You can believe in a God, but in order to actually believe in the Christian one you would need to believe everything the bible states. I mean, if there was no bible, there was no Christianity. This only applies has long has you chose to believe in the "God" depicted in the bible of course.
You can't say " I believe in the Christian God, yet I don't believe in the bible". I mean you
're whole damn faith is based on that. You can't just "pick what's right".

Your opinion. It's wrong, but it's your opinion. It still doesn't change the fact that it is a valid argument and that you didn't bother to answer the question.

*EDIT*

Not saying that as a shot, just saying you didn't answer the question. :)
Lol, I love the edit there. Alright, the reason I considered it weak is the concept of a billion dollars is a much more tangible concept than life existing on other planets, especially when one considers how much we're exposed to the term in everyday media (ie the budget has a surplus of 20 billion dollars, billions has been wiped off the stock exchange due to the global financial crisis etc).

The idea of a billion dollars in same bill form isn't that plausible, as the amount of $100 notes (Australia's highest note value) it takes to make 1 billion means that you're very unlikely to ever see it expressed in legal tender, but the idea of say a billion dollars being present on the governments books or something like that? Yup, I don't need to see that to believe it.

They're too very seperate arguments, a billion dollars to aliens existing. A better argument on your behalf would have been something like... do you need to see a worm hole (in space) to know it exists? Because scientists aren't it agreement as to whether these are tangible concepts just yet but probability says they are, much like the brunt of the idea surrounding aliens on this thread.
I see what you're saying. I was in a roundabout way questioning why you would need to see it in order to believe it exists? I'm just going to nickname you Captain Skepticism.

Probably out there somewhere but I doubt whether we (as in people alive today) will ever find them, or t'other way round.
