Poll: Do you buy collectors/special editions of games?

Yes. I do. But only when its worth while doing so, not jsut for the hell of it. I also will if its the same price or only a little bit more expensive that the normal version, just so I can say I have the collectors edition (and hopefully get more back if the game is awful)
If I'm a big enough fan. For example, I want to get the special editions of Kingdom Hearts 1 and 2 to replace the copies I have now (damn Japan only release, I prefer English Language games), and I want to get the Limited Edition versions of Gears 2 and Halo Wars. However, I wouldn't for something like Lost Planet or Pokemon Diamond or something. It all depends on the game, and what's in the limited edition version.
I've gotten a few special addition games all of them by chance. When I picked up DMC4, my copy came in a nice metal case and had a bonus DVD of the first season Devil May Cry the animated series, My copy of Dead Space came with a lovely little book of concept artwork. And I got the special edition version of FFXII.
Only have once or twice but it's rarely worth it imo.
The Saint's Row 2 SE soooo wan't worth it and that's put me off a lot.
If the game is awesome and if it's a racing game and you get extra cars then I can see it but it has to offer more than "cheat codes".

I have the City Guide Version of GTA:San Andreas and the Sexy Foldout Box for GTA:Vice city, I also got my diablo 2 in the huge box of awsomeness it used to be packed in.
I really hope Mass Effect 2 and Diablo 3 get a special edition,
oh and I bought Half Life 2: Beyond the bar; that counts I geuss.

Only when the extra stuff that comes with it is really cool. The bobblehead, lunchbox etc. in Fallout3 were really cool. Most of the extras that come in those editions are not worth it though. I hope the batarang that comes with Arkham Asylum is as cool as it looks.
I bought the special edition for Battlefield: Badcompany... the only cool things you got were 5 special weapons unlocked for the multiplayer which you would eventually unlock once you hit the highest rank online.

I buy them if I can, but if I can't afford them and if they don't look too worth it (RE5 wasn't too impressive, even though I got the collector's eddition as a gift) I probably would save my money for something else

not usually. i got the collectors ed of fable 2, simply because it was the same price as the normal version.
