I'm currently playing Prince of Persia for trophies (PS3 achievements). They're just fun to me, and I really missed the old games, where you unlocked shit, and felt like you accomplished something by doing so. Achievements fill in that gap for me. I'm going to get all the light seeds in the game and beat it without dying 100 times, which should take at least twelve hours.

I like achievemnets, but if my gamerscore gets too high (thankfully its not), then I'd feel bad because I know a lot of people would look at me as an obsessive noob (excuse that childish jargon)

I don't care about it really, except when I have more Gamerscore in a particular game or a really hard achievement (One Free Bullet anyone?)

I like achievements. When you do something really hard or interesting, you can get rewarded for it, and people will know that you've done said thing.
Agreed

I personally don't but I know people who swear on their gamerscore.
I have a 360 and PS3

In my opinion

I prefer Trophies then Achievements because one Trophy is more rewarding then 5 Achievements but thats my opinion
i dont have both, i only have a 360 but i would assume that the achievements are the same as trophies but just called different names ? How could trophies be more valuable ?
I think it's the fact that achievements are measured in numbers that makes the differance

while Trophy are measured in Class (Bronze,Silver,Gold and the ever so hard Platinum)

Looking at a number doesn't give the feeling of accomplishment that much

but looking at a shiny object does

(It's Human nature i guess)

I like achievements but I simply do not *dare* try Man vs. Tank

They're too big and scary :(

Well, I don't own a 360, but I wish there were some sort of system that counted points from achievements on PC.

Even if it was like... something Steam had built in, because a lot of Valve games have achievements with no purpose. I'd do them if there was something like Gamerscore up for grabs, but when it's just doing them for the sake of doing them, I'd rather not. [=

Look you want to know misery, I once played four player co-op Halo 3 with some friends, my friend Paul and I (HIm as the chief, me as Arby) teamed up with friends Tony and Rhys. Paul and I are Halo fans to the bone so ALL we cared about was playing the game and having a few laughs, but Tony obsessed with the fucking skull hunt, this meant that at almost every single high actioned combat section and every blood pumping vehicle section we had to pause, break flow while Tony tried to find each skull, we tried to help occasionaly, got into arguments and the experiance became sour. Every single skull hunt slowed us down.
Never mix hardcore fans with achievement whores, it just makes everyone hate each other.

I like to look through the available trophies just for ideas on what to do for fun. For example: In CoD:WaW, there's a trophy to bean an entire level without using guns (explosives are okay). As soon as I beat the last mission (damn those germans!) I'll go back and try that on one of the levels.

As for racking them up so I look cool?... eh. It would mean more if you didn't get achievements/trophies for just going through the game and beating levels. As it stands now, though... not so much.
