I tend to Tank it up, so I'm the Defender. It might be because I'm abnormal in just complying to the party dynamic & also hate being a squishy Mage that gets eaten by bosses when a defender can't keep the boss's attention. That being said; I also tend to go balanced between both physical and magical defense, but my primary choice in offense is usually magic based.

I always tend to go high offense, low defence. I?m an impatient twat and therefore want fights to be fast paced. So if I can kill enemies quickly but they can also kill me very quickly I?m happy.

I always play the Defender role in D&D, just so i can soak up the damage while my comrades, warlock and rogue, can cast spells or stab backs without fear.

Depends on the game. In some of them I have rerolled a defended spec'd character because they are much more viable than you initially think they are. When I can make my character almost invincible to most enemies that's a good enough reason to roll defensive.

Feels much more badass than having high DPS... Trust me...

Well, my main toon in DDO is a level 14 Paladin, and they are not known for hanging back in support. So physical offense, I guess.

My Wizard uses a combination of offense with spells and offense with quarterstaff, unless I'm in a group, in which case I'm essentially an arcane cannon. And my Ranger is a sort who generally inflicts as much chaos as he can with his bow before breaking out the dual +5 rapiers to finish off anyone still standing.

I haven't quite figured out what my Cleric is, so for all intents and purposes, I'm pretty much pure offense.

Often I'll choose a straight ahead brawler to go through, such as with the example of Kingdom Hearts but once I've been through it once, it's boring to do it again that way. Hence when I played Bioshock 2 I didn't buy Cyclone Trap on the first playthrough but rather on the second.
