Poll: do you ever play as the opposite gender

depends on the game.. this gender thing is a situation that happens massively in RPG's or MMO's so based on that i pick a gender that is better for the class i want to play as.

warrior - male
Thief/Stealth - Female
Mage - depends on the models of the game what ever is prettier =/
archer - female
cleric - female
and other sub classes are very close to that ~

I tend to play female characters for variety. I play male characters first then female characters second, although I only have a female character in Fable 2 because the first 3 games I made died in a variety of ways... corrupted data, kept crashing etc. so I decided to go for a female for a bit of variety, and what do you know, this one stuck!

Bioware games I play quite a few woman in, though I always make a male character first. In Dragon Age I have 2 males (Dalish Elf and Human) and 1 female (City Elf). Baldur's Gate I've had many, many characters over the years. Mass Effect I have yet to make a Shepard other than my Paragon male character, though I plan to play a Renegade female character and a "Canon" Shepard (Soldier, default looks and name).

So, uhh, yeah.

In multiplayer games, I usually stick to male characters, because otherwise I kind of feel like a cross-dresser.

In single player games, I almost always play female characters. They just seem more interesting. Plus, if you're going to be staring at someone's ass for however many hours of gameplay, it might as well be a nice ass

All the time. If you are gonna look at the back of a character for hours and hours it might as well be a chick right? Then you can observe the ass jiggle physics and critique them in your dirty little mind. I know a lot of people do it on Mass Effect. Lesbian Sex scene anyone?

Sometimes, depends whose ass is prettier, since i'll have to be watching it for the duration of the game. Most of the time i actually don't care, unless it online, then i'll be a guy

Rarely. The exception is the Mass Effect series--at least one of my playthroughs is always with a female Shepard.

If the sex of your character has some affect on gameplay, I'll do it to see what happens. Otherwise, I usually just go with a male character.

I did for my Mass Effect 1 + 2 playthroughs because I can't stand male Shepherd's stilted dull voice.

mmos i almost always play as female, however, story based rpgs its usually male, at least the first time through
